Started a five session welding class last night. I'll be going to class once a week during October.

First session was on a Miller 252 MIG. Then we moved down to a Harbor Freight Flux 125 model. I quickly learned there is a BIG difference between welders.

They also had a Lincoln VRTEX 360 for practice sessions.

I have great respect for welders.

inspected near the cat, nothing much of concern other than bottom surface outside, inside is probably ok but need more inspection

stopped at harbor freights to ask about blasting media, if the soda stuff will work as similar as the glass bead and the guy said it should and provide with less after mess, which is good!

he wasn't sure what other use i could get out of the soda media if it does not take surface crust off
once I open the $40 bag he said i cannot return it...

Good stuff, I've been contemplating taking classes myself. Wondering if my GI Bill will cover it.

I almost went bright green, but my truck is staying white so it'd look silly.

Bad enough other guys ask me about my truck; if I tinted my windows and had pink hubs, they'd think a chick was driving it.

I was in school for it before the simulators became really widespread. We just welded for 4 hours straight 2 nights a week.

I'll take a pic tomorrow but we have a huge 500amp mean bastard of a mig welder at work that one guy can lay a single 3/4" wide bead with in a single pass. We use it to joint tool stocks and them turn them in a lathe into a huge drill Chuck.
