Free installation on Pro-Comp 6" system from 4wheel parts, good deal?

What do you guys think about this deal from 4wheel parts?

I haven't been too terribly interested in getting a full 6" lift kit on my DC, but this coupon basically wipes the entire installation charge (or at least most of it).

Go for it. But make sure you get the Kit with the coilovers.

 

I would find out how much they charge to install the lift first. The coupon is only good for $500 off the cost of the install. I would assume that normally it costs a bit more than that.

 

I'd keep looking if I'm not mistaken I thought it was here that I read about 4wheel parts Fubaring some lift installs. Causing the owner to have to go back numerious times. This would also be directly related to their location. I'll try and find it.

On a side note it would have cost me $400 to have a shop install my 3" lift, I would think that $500 coupon would cover less than half of the install price. Just my $.02

 

yeah $500 isn't going to cover the price of the install, only about 1/3 off the top of my head, I want to say once you go down there and actually set everything up, theres gonna be this fee and that fee and you're still going to end up paying 1200-1500 even with that 500 off coupon. All that being said, if you're going to pay to have it installed anyways, 500 off is 500 off!

 

Well here in Hawaii they have a 6% shipping charge and Tax. Which is the only fees they tack on.

As for the free install? Bottom line them! Other than cutting the crossmember, the install is bolt on! So the coupon should cover it.

Just tell them you'll buy the kit if they do the install FREE!

 

good stuff... i had my eyes on only a 3" for money reasons. Then my wife come home from work friday and said "i just saw a tacoma like yours but lifted, you should do yours like that." I said yes lol. Then we drove by and i noticed the free install sign on their window of the shop. I agree with toku, I'm going to try and get them where I only pay for the lift. A private shoo here in town charges $500 to $550 to install, a less if you buy it from them. I will call 4wp tomorrow, but I anticipate $500-$600 charge. their website says the stg 1 is some $1561

well, its not likely I can afford the stage II, and i have been favoring the procomp over fabtech, but how much less of a kit is the stg I?

 

OK, well, here's the deal. I just called the 4WP here in town, and they said they would do the $500 coupon off the installation, but that the kit was $1561 (VSC) and the install is normally $625 + $100 alignment....

So the $500 coupon would wipe out some, but I'd still be responsible for the $125 left over and the $100 alignment, so $225.... which seems a bit high to me. He basically was like "Ya, we charge high, but we have best techs. We aren't 18 yr old kids at best buy.."

He did also mention, if I found the kit lower (at a verifiable place??) he would price-match.. He said if it was online, then the price-match would be the shipped value...

for the same VSC kit at $1404 free shipping..... who knows if that is "verifiable" to qualify or whatever...

What do you guys think? I want to do it, but seems more trouble than its worth to be rushed into doing it by 9/30 for the coupon...

 

Well google the install for that kit you'll see that it is basically a bolt on install. Just need to cut the crossmember.
Go down there in person with that print out of 4wheelonline's price, and ask them if they will match the price and do the FREE install you'll buy the kit from them.

They will NEVER give you the best deal over the phone!

 

100 for an alignment is high. I just got a lifetime alignment from expert tire for 140 on saturday

 

You have a good point. I don't think the guy on the phone was intending to be rude to me, but he can definitely take benefit in a customer service class. He kind of road me when I told him another shop in town can get me out the door for $1950 for the kit + installation and that's not using any coupon anywhere..

Then he snapped at me about the alignment not being included in the install price "An alignment is a service, and that's a separate charge"

I told him I might be able to get an alignment for $40 elsewhere he said "they will just bring it to us, because only we know how to REALLY align lifted trucks correctly..."

I duno, I really want to do the lift, I mean, who wouldn't? But I feel I'm not really getting the full $500 off, at least not as it was in my mind...

Seems like they are recooping the costs other places, and ultimately they just charge Pro-Comp $500, so they win all the way around...

I have until 9/30 to decide.... because thats when the deal ends...

If he did the kit for $1404 as it is on 4Wheel parts online, it may be worth it, but he said he will not price match labor anywhere...

 

Do you have another 4WP near you? That guy sounds like a complete doucher. Go to another one if you can. If not, talk to another worker or manager at that store. I've never had problems at the 4WP in my location.

 

you were asking up there somewhere about that kit from 4wheelonline, just FYI I got the procomp stage 1 kit from them last month for 1404 shipped like you said, so just wanted to verify for you that yes, that is indeed the true price and make 4 wheel parts match it

 

Dude just lift it already. It's only what a couple hundred here or there? When you die you can't take it with you anyway. If saving a few bucks is that important then maybe spending 2 grand on a lift is not a good move to spend money on right now.

 

Lol, I knew this comment was coming, and probably due. You do have a point, I was leading towards a 3" and more towards the December/January time frame. But when I saw their lil sticker for free* install and the same day my wife happened to mention to me she'd think its cool if I got the lift... all kind of made me re-think haha. I still got until the end of the month to decide for the deal, and you are right about long term what's a couple of hundred bucks? I just don't want to jump into the 6" when I haven't really been planning on it before last week, and the truck is less than 2 months old.

None-the-less, they look awesome with 6" and I will probably stick with 33's either lift I go... i just think the 6" looks nicer than the 3" leveling kit which is why I'm trying to lean that way. About a month ago, I saw a DC with a 6" and 33's and thought it looked wicked.

Even if I do an OME 3" its $750 plus I install myself, or for $750 MORE, I can get the 6" installed and aligned...

Oh, as a side note (not to split hairs here), I don't know how the re-sale-ability of the truck is once you do a permanent lift like the 6" since cutting is required. Maybe somebody can help, but that is the number one reason I got Toyota was because of their reliability/resale value. If putting a 6" is going to really hurt the value long term, I may not want to do it.

 

I know... I think they are playing the whole "Captive Audience Capitalism" thing... $140 for lifetime is a great deal... $100 for a one time? seems way to high. And his whole argument was "well, only we specialize in aligning lifted trucks, so your ma' and pa' shop can't do it right for $40..."

My thinking is... given my prior experience with drop bracket lifts, is the geometry and what not should be stock, so what the hell else is there so special to aligning the damn thing? Sheesh.
