@snowsk8air2 I'd rather not promote RST becuase I recently had a bad interaction with them taking my money and not sending product, however look at Wyatt's post here:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/building-the-beast.23170/page-16#post-480020

Looks like all Auto 4x4 trucks have this port.... From further reading some of the newer trucks do not have the actual worm gear internally. But it can be swapped for the spacer in place.... I'm still trying to source the worm gear and wiring harness on my own for my build because RST decided to not ship

That will bypass the rear sensors, but as I read it that signal from the tc worm gear still goes to the skid ecu.

The truck in question and my truck both started as prerunners but are both now 4x4 with Auto trans and manual TC's from an FJ. Not that it matters as all the ecu stuff on the truck still thinks it's a prerunner. We can use the worm gear in the tc to bypass the rear speed sensors at some point.

For my future reference, the link above in the quote, post #291 discusses how to do what I want.

    A thing or two...
On automatic transmission trucks, the speed signal is generated by the ABS module using the 4 wheel speed sensors. On manual transmission trucks, the speed signal is generated by the speed sensor in the transmission or transfer case and goes straight to the dash. On manual transmission trucks, the ABS module doesn't have anything to do with the speedometer.

so we could wire from the worm gear straight to the speedo using MT stuff. well, sorta.

Those who have bedsides... how do you strap your dirt bikes down cause I don’t trust the siderails or anything that attaches to them after installing my bedsides and seeing how small the screws are... or are they? I have a short bed so I don’t have those long bed hooks in the front of the bed which is annoying I just have 2 little d rings in the back of the bed.

I’ve used the rails with tying down dirt bikes on my 6’ bed with the factory bed cleats. The rails do flex a bit if you really tighten it down but it holds.
The side rails with the cleats or maybe D ring hooks on the rails are your best bet.

Then how is my speedo still working with the front 2 ABS sensors disconnected?

Off the rear two. I had two bad front sensors and never lost the speedo.

Maybe it really only needs one and doesn't matter which one so you have 4 to die before you loose speedo, that's a lot of backups if one dies. Mine didn't want to cooperate when I swapped my spindles so they are in a dump somewhere now.

Yeah, you’ll just have to deal with the ABS light. I wonder if the fronts provide anything more than the ABS/traction.

From experience the ABS light comes on when 1 of the 4 sensors is bad or disconnected, MIL and speedo stops working when 3 are disconnected. But, as in the case i'm working on, the sensors are good but the mil and speedo are inop, it's more than that.

Oh I know about the light and such that's not a big deal. Was more curious about the algorithm Yota used for speedo if they are basing off the ABS sensors. But that's some good info to know.

Do you have a wiring diagram of the system. I would start tracing the wiring and testing the components within that diagram that controls the speedo and mil.

Bed cleats work just fine. Like others have said they flex a little. Are you LT in the rear? If so just weld a couple tabs into the bed cage and go from there. That would be a super solid mount. I did that for a little while too but now made a hitch carrier and just use that if I need to haul the bike anywhere.

What are you guys torquing your u-bolts to?

I’ve usually done 80ft-lbs, but would like to try to put some anti-seize on them this time, as I keep having to cut them off.

Different torque spec with anti-seize or something else I can try ?
