Hey guys, I'm looking for ideas and advice regarding mounting a RotoPax (or similar) in the bed of my 2nd Gen.

I don't wanna spend $30 for the Roto mount, and then another $30 for the Tacoma bedrail mount. That's just totally unnecessary on top of an already high price.

Any ideas or suggestions for different and easier ways to mount a RotoPax to my bed. Have a hunting trip coming up and I don't want to just throw an old gas can in the back. Need something secure, and love the low-profile design of RotoPax.

Or, should I say screw it and just mount the thing to my roof rack. Lol. I mean, isn't that what the Prinsu is for

You've already spent a good deal on your rack, what's another $30 or so between friends, lol.

People often forget how useful (and cheap!!) bungee cords are.

I personally would rather spend a weekend fabricating a custom mount than spend $60+ on some bracket just to mount an aux gas tank. I threw together some custom mounting bracket for my hi-lift that mounts directly to the inside of my bed. It's clean, and cost me probably $8 in steel flatbar and some riv-nuts.

But then again, I'm a cheap ass, so I'd rather use a $25 jerry can instead, too.

Jerry cans are only cool if you mount them in a CNC laser cut swing away tire carrier that cost $1800. And even then, you only get half credit. Rotopax are what the cool kids have (that and credit card debt, lol).

But seriously, if you have very limited space where a more simple jerry can can't fit, they are quite nice.

I got the 4x4 Victory cab rack, but also think the rotopax mounts are overpriced...looking just to maybe use Rok straps to the rack.

I've used them off-roading for motos; they don't come loose.

Yeah they're overpriced... But they're also durable as shit, low profile, and easy to pack.

There are plenty of things that aren't overpriced that meet that same criteria.

I made these for my hi-lift. ~$8 worth in parts, and maybe 30 minutes of work.

Looking back at these, I'm tempted to redo them just because my welding has gotten so much better since then, but hey, they still work great.
