Anyone use this coolant?

I am approaching 100K miles on my 2015 2.7L and am planning on draining the radiator and block (not doing a full flush). Has anyone used this concentrate? My local dealer wants $30 per gallon for the 50/50 pink. I am thinking this HOAT coolant is completely compatible with the OEM at half the price.

 

Using the name OEM makes it feel like shady marketing, which makes me think shady product. Just my own 2 pennies.

 

You can find the 50/50 pink Toyota Super Long Life Coolant on ebay from many Toyota dealerships around the country who charge less even with shipping.

This is an unscrupulous Ebayer. Price the item low but add shipping charges that are more than the product. The total is over $35 per gallon. Amazon you can get it for less than $23a gallon.

Both are ethylene glycol based. Both are silicate-, borate-, nitrite- and amine-free. Looks like you would be fine using this. You might research the ASTM D3306 and JIS K2234 specs.
My question: is it worth saving $25 over a few years time for the cheaper fluid? I have used the Zerex Asian coolant (SLLC equivalent) before and not had any problems. But now I'm rethinking this decision, might cough up a few bucks for the Toyota SLLC for future services.

Thanks for the responses. I have to be in Pittsburgh twice this month and found that the Toyota dealer in the neighborhood sells the SLLC for $9.50 less per gallon than my local dealer here in Central Virginia.
Same price as the OEM brand stuff. I will grab it up there.

 

If it were truly OEM, it would look exactly like the jug in post #6. I'm not knocking any of the alternatives mentioned here, just the bogus company that has the audacity to claim that an AFTERMARKET coolant is OEM.

I figure, their water pumps, their coolant. And it's usually $15-20 a gallon shipped (Rock Auto, Ebay, Summit Racing, etc).

 

I used Aisin SLLC. It cost me $10/gallon. Aisin is an OEM for Toyota so the coolant is probably the exact same as Toyota coolant.

 

Yes - I used it in our Rav4 Sport V6 - its perfectly fine to use, along with cheap 90 cent per gallon distilled. Best deal.

 

Not to quibble, but OE means factory Original Equipment and means the same parts used in original factory assembly. OEM is Original Equipment Manufacturer, and means the same supplier that produced the factory parts. Small but important difference. It is feasible (and fairly common) to be able to buy factory-spec parts produced by the same supplier (hence OEM) but labeled differently than the factory part. Allows the OEM supplier to sell the same factory parts without the legal hassle / infringement and cost of using the Toyota brand.

You may know all this already, but others reading this may not. Not saying this is the case with the "OEM" coolant mentioned above, because I don't know and haven't researched it, but it is at least plausible.

 

Yes - I'm aware and there's no mention of OE thus far in this thread other than your comment. The jug says OEM. Unless Toyota licensed their SLLC, which I doubt they have done, the only OEM coolant is what's shown on post #6.
I suppose it's possible Toyota changed the color scheme of their SLLC jugs. I'd like to see the other side of it.
Counterfeit abounds in the auto parts industry.

 

I checked all the sources & the cheapest I found this for was $24.95 delivered. Where have you found it for $15 delivered?
Btw, I use the Valvoline SLLC for Toyota from Walmart for $12.95/gal.

 

Rockauto had it for around $16, but I'm not seeing it there anymore, Ebay had a seller selling it for $17.99 shipped, but not seeing that either. Summit Racing has it for $15.99 and if you spend $100, you get free shipping which is easy if you're doing your water pump, thermostat, hoses and fan belt.

 

I found Toyota pink for $20 a jug at a Pittsburgh dealership so I am going with that. I tried to find the one I originally posted for that or less, but came up blank.
I just wish my local dealer wasn't so damn expensive.

 

Local dealer here sells Toyota SLLC for around $16 a gallon. I asked for wholesale pricing and I think I payed about $13. Doesn't really make sense to use aftermarket coolant at that price.
