Hi guys, just got this in the mail today. If this news has already broken or if this is in the wrong thread please don’t flame, I’m just trying to pass on the good news. I told my wife I kinda feel like I hit the lottery. Sounds like the frame replacement program has been extended to the 2011-2017 Tacoma’s in the rust states. They mention they will at some point start the frame rust prevention spray but that it’s to come. Hope this puts us 2011+ guys at rest a little in case we see a perforation pop up within 12 years of the in service date.

I thought Toyota improved the frame after 2011 so it wouldn't rust like the previous years.

I got one too. Not happy about it to be honest; in order to qualify you have to get their shit coating sprayed. From what I’ve read about that stuff, I’m not a fan.

I’ve got weld on sliders so I’m pretty much sol anyway; pretty sure that would void any frame warranty. I’ll keep wire wheeling and repainting as necessary and am going to start fluid filming like the rest of New England’s taco owners.

The way I read it I don’t think the coating is required. Just don’t bring it in unless you have a perforation. Unless you want their crappy coating. To me it is insurance for us. I get the bad news part but I already assumed Toyota was full of shit with fixing the issue with the frames. First a buyback. Then a lawsuit. Then the 05-10 frame replacement...etc.

Also from what I’ve read from other guys that had it done in the past if the hole isn’t at the slider welds you should still qualify. Can’t remember which threads I read that but it makes sense. They can’t argue the slider welds caused it if it’s like a foot away...?

Also for people looking to buy used a few years from now they’ve got this assurance since it’s transferable

11-17 will only have a wax coating applied to the inside of the box section as far as I’ve been told so far. They haven’t had tech instructions published yet but have had an online test out for some time. New spraying equipment different from the old frame spray.
Boston region isn’t starting them until December

Interesting. Maby the new spray treatment will be worth it. Wonder how similar the new waxy treatment will be to fluid film

This has been my only hesitation with a Tacoma is the frame rust.

I suppose this makes me feel a bit better about buying a used vehicle.

According the “A6” on the letter the OP got you are still covered. Either you might have to cut off the sliders to bring it back to OE specs or the dealer can still go ahead and do the replacement. Might be old news but thought I’d try and shed some light.

Anybody have a recommendation on which dealership to go to? I'm in Framingham. I'm pretty sure my frame will pass, truck came from Florida but should I get an inspection done just to get one in the books?

Feel like everyone should demand a new frame. When you go to sell the first thing the buyer asks is “did it get the new frame?” If you dont get it it’s way harder to sell.

And if you buy a truck in a "southern state" and bring it up north?

Brought my low milage, perfect condition 2011 Tacoma TRD into dealer today for the frame spray, got a call from them saying they found a hole in the frame. They sprayed the frame but they said Toyota is going to replace it.
