So I knew stock was 70 something. With my new axle I figured 80 at least. Bent the brand new big ubolts that came with it

    The DMZ bolts are 9/16”
I had to retorque them quite a bit initially and drove around with my tq wrench for a while. Then before and after my first offroad trip.

Edit: do you you think they bent from doing too much at once on one side?

This is what I’d be afraid of with using anti-seize. May be too slippery and I have to keep retorquing them.
Also wet torque numbers would be different than dry.

I have to use anti seize. When I removed the stock bolts and Alcan bolts the threads pretty much came off along with the nuts. I probably could have boiled water with the u bolts.

Once the leaf pack settled they were good. I check them on occasion and no loosening. The nuts I’m using have around an inch of thread engagement.
A regular grade 8 9/16” bolt is good for 115 ft lbs according to SAE.

The wet vs dry is an interesting argument. Someone should take bolt stretch measurements one day to see what the difference is. I wouldn’t split hairs over ubolts though.

I’m back halving and linking my crawler with an exo cage, roll cage will be 1 3/4 .120 dom. Thinking of doing the bedcage out of 1 3/4 .120 hrew to save money. Good idea? bad idea? Would save me about $300 over all dom. Asking in here bc it has to do with a 4 link, and some of you are back halved

For the amount of time and effort involved I’d just buy dom for everything, coil over bed cages need to be a good deal stronger than a sock medcage as the cage is what’s holding the weight of the vehicle unlike a shock hoop.

Heims. I got mine on one of the first few batches before bushings were an option. After 2 years the heims and uniballs are starting to get noisy, but I like the extra alignment adjustability. Running about 4.8* castor which makes off road handling quite nice. Not going to be able to get those alignment numbers with the bushing kit.
