!!Opinions!! I'm messaging a guy about some 315/75/16 mts. My 01 prerunner has a 2.5" lift on it. Has anyone tried stuffing 35s where they don't fit? I'd like to see pictures and hear what everyones opinions on lowest lift possible is, would cuting be necessary, ect. I bomb down the trails with my prerunner so I still want to keep the truck as low as possible but with maximum ground clearance.

You can fit 35s with 2.5" of lift, but you'll have significant work to make them fit. Your lift - per-se - is not going to have any impact on that work, since lift only affects where the truck stands at rest - the suspension, as you are "bombing down the trails" still cycles through the full range of motion it always has.

Besides just tire size, wheel choice is going to have an impact on how much tubbing of the firewall and trimming of the fenders you have to do.

This article covers all the things you'll need to think about, and the type of work you'll need to do for various size tires.

What size tires fit my lifted Tacoma?

Its looking like a couple inches in body lift will do me some good. Seems like if I do that, it'll require less beating the hell out of the wheel well. Lol.

@2steppin4x2 you can fit 35's on 0" lift. There are folks here who have done it. Stock height, with 35's.

Lift doesn't change how the tires hit in the wheelwells or against the frame (unless you go long travel). A suspension lift, and even a body lift will still rub when the suspension articulates unless you go with long travel that completely changes the suspension geometry.

So the question is: How much tubbing do you want to do?

With sagged OME 882s, full skids, winch/bumper I estimate I am at about 1.5" or less of lift in the front.

I cut 1.75" out of the fenders and tubbed the firewall back about 2.5-3" at the door. 35x12.5R17 Maxxis Trepadors
