Would 285/70/17 fit or rub?

I picked up some VTX TERRA rims (17x8.5 -10) before deployment, now that i'm stateside want to put those on however im not sure what size tire to buy (all i know is i want 35s)... ill be putting a 4inch lift on my 19 Tacoma. Anyone have any pictures i could see or know if this will work or if i need to cut.

Might be a simple question for some of you, however i dont know hardly anything about tires & wheels. Learning along the way.

 

Im not keenly aware of this size, but I know a few guys who run these or sinilar and my semi uneducated answer is yes.

Also I'd suggest searching the forum with this question and you'll probably find a lot of previous discussion about it.

 

As someone who has been thinking of going 285/75/16 and the dimensions being pretty identical 285/70/17, from the research I've done, it will most definitely rub and you will most likely need a CMC.

If you're trying to keep stock suspension and avoid any cutting, I recommend going 265/70/17. I think those dimensions are pretty similar to 265/75/16 which is what I currently have on my truck and there's no rubbing for me on stock suspension.

Edit: I just saw your wheel dimensions and with the aggressive offset, 265/70/17 might rub for you as well. Additionally, even with a 4" lift, you will need to cut. Also 285's are closer to 33"

If you want 35's then you need to pick a different size. That's considered a 33" but it's not even that. 315/70R17 or similar is roughly a 35".

Either way, with 35's you'll need the CMC, potentially aftermarket UCAs to push the tire forward, and I'm not positive but I don't think that's enough backspacing on an 8.5" wide wheel for the tire to clear the upper.

 

I appreciate all the info I saw a couple pictures of other peoples set up, I'm going with 33s instead! Feel like 35s would be too big for what I pictured it to look like.

I haven't noticed any rub or any major vibrations. However because of the lift & how tall the tires are, strong chance I'll have to take it to the dealership to turn off the Pre-Collision System/sensors. Not a big deal for since I really don't need a senor to tell me if I'm about to hit something.
