Bank came back with preposterous numbers. Told them to fuck off.

After making me wait 2 weeks for an answer because "they're busy", they came back with 10.25% for 65 months, wanted 9k down (instead of my 7k down), and it ended up being $540 a month. All because "high mileage and age". Fuck outta here.

That's a crazy rate; you could almost put it on a credit card for lower

People always tell me I am crazy for buying brand new vehicles every 3 or 4 years, but I get great interest rates on them which kinda makes up for it. I get a pretty big car allowance from work anyway.

    That's through my credit union.

I found a 2006 6 speed manual double cab on CL that looks interesting.

    But 6.0's scare me... :spending:

I wouldn't buy a 6.0 unless you're willing to tear into it and bullet proof it. If you can buy it right and dump a couple grand into the engine, it'll run forever.

Usually they're pretty cheap to buy. Expensive to maintain, though.

That's kinda what I'm thinking. BUT I don't want another project...

I don't mind doing the work myself, but pulling the cab is a big deal..

I've got a buddy that is a diesel mechanic. I'll see what he'd charge me.

    GOD I wish I had a lift.

Same here. I think they even did one on Diesel Brothers without pulling the cab. If I recall, I think it was the guy out west who was harassed when he was out camping with his family. I think he had a 6.0 that they bullet proofed (and completely redid). I could be getting my trucks mixed up though...

I saw it done in Levi's garage, kid I use to do side work with. But I also saw a 6.4 with the cab completely off as well

It might be worthwhile to do on my own, but I don't want to sink a bunch of money right off the bat

If it's running when you buy it, you could run it until you need to drop some money into it. I don't think there's harm in waiting until it leaks to start tearing it apart as in, I don't think it's any less expensive to preemptively bullet-proof vs. fix after things start going wrong.

That depends entirely on what goes wrong, and how severely, really...

True... I guess I'm thinking the complete bullet proofing procedure. You can chase symptoms for a while, but if I were going to own a 6.0, i'd want all the problem parts replaced. If you're going to tear into it, might as well do it all once.
