Well damn it. Got termites. They gotta drill about every 12" through the exterior concrete the perimeter of the house as well as inside the garage against the walls. That means it's a "forced rearranging" as well as a cleaning. The good news is these termites have to go back to the ground about every 24 hours so there's no tenting the house and they'll do the entire treatment in one day.

That sucks. One of my folks has an infested house and they're replacing entire exterior walls up to the roof (just to make sure).

The bad thing is we just had concrete poured just before summer really warmed up. Had I known I would have had the house treated before the pour. Price would have been the same but the work would have been faster and easier. The guy said they'll drill, use a couple hundred gallons of treatment then reseal the holes right afterward.

Actually not bad. $1240, 1 year renewable warranty for $175 and every year after that. Treatment lasts 5 years and they treat again if/as needed every year upon annual reinspection.

Wow. Ron is paying $35K+ (barring further unforeseen circumstances) for a new exterior wall, this time with hardiplank siding and closed-cell foam insulation.

No. There's plenty of exterminator competition here. You can't swing a dead cat without hitting an exterminator truck.

When I lived in Benson it was the same way. We had to fight the termites and ants hard every year. Nothing like driving through a swarm of those bastards when they had wings and have half of million die on your windshield.

Cost is in deductible and adding the closed cell insulation. Apparently his insurance thinks the pink stuff is good enough to go back in. Fortunately they also insisted on the hardiplank.

My house is closed cell, and it is tight. No surprise interior breezes, unlike my MIL's house.

Oh yes. We have 3 flavors of ants here and 2 of them are dependent on each other. The 3 flavor just freelances.

I still remember those damn fire ants there at Ft. Hood. Mean little bastards.

We have all closed cell also. This is one of those "certified energy efficient homes". And, no, no breezes whatsoever. We run ceiling fans all year because it gets too "still".
