Should I lift my Tacoma or leave it stock?

Hello fellow Tacoma owners,

New to Tacoma World, looking for advice on how to lift or level my truck.

I want to put 265/75/16 tires on and make it level. Go off road pretty often but usually only light to moderate stuff on desert roads/trails. In its stock form the truck has done great for what I'm doing, now I just want the truck to be level, more aggressive tires and function like it was intended to.

I recommend new UCA’s with any lift, makes life easier and keep the old parts... just in case

I mild lift of 1” to 1.5” over stock is worthwhile as you get a little more clearance for your body panels and a nice stance. Lifting beyond that brings a host of other issues (front needle bearing issues, CV boot failures, driveline vibrations, control arm replacement) and usually only looks right with larger tires, which bring their own set of issues (CMC, lost MPGs, no ability to run chains, regearing). Unless you need a whole lot more lift for a specific reason, I’d say is ain’t worth it.

Lifts are for sissies. Get out the sawzall.

 

I gots 20" lift and she sure rides great and gets excellent mpgs. I got it from russian website.
