I wish I could leave the fob inside the cab and lock my truck, so when I go surf I don't have to worry about it.

    JJ?! Is that you?!
I thought you were my brother!
My brother works his ass off to care for his wife and 4 kids. I'm convinced his overtime pay is solely to pay for lost Chrysler minivan keys. He's at the point, he has to hide his keys from his wife, because she'll loose her keys, and just take his off the counter and drive off:burnrubber:

Lol For real. Whine whine whine. Maybe Toyota will put a hand crank start up on the front in 2021 for ya!?

I live in the 1 of 2 states that WON'T let you pump your own gas. So annoying.

Screenshot_20191005-074450_eBay.jpg When I was a kid we had to use two keys. One to get in the truck and one to start it. Ford had an oval shaped key to open the door and a square key to start. Nobody complained then

A push button start was something that I didn't want and is what made me stay under certain trim levels when considering cars and trucks this time around.

Can't remember the specific reasons why but there were a couple of times I thought it was a pain with my wife's car. So was something I didn't want.

But I will say after a morning of doing a quick drive with two or three stops in my wife's car, it was something I got used to quickly and it was an adjustment having to fish out my keys to start my Tacoma when I got back into it.

Although I think part of it is that also with the Tacoma's key the fob is on the key as well, unlike my previous truck where the fob and key were separate. So I could warm up the car and keep the doors locked, which is something that I can't do with our Toyotas easily. So it takes out one of the reasons why I didn't want the push button start.

I live in one of the other 48 states. When it's 15 degrees and blowing sideways I miss having someone else being the miserable sod out there pumping my gas.

What states are these? Is there a long wait at the pump?

Oregon is one, never noticed a wait any longer than anywhere else I've been.

I mean there's an easy insurance plan for this, just keep a spare keyfob battery in your glove box

I have a love/hate relationship with my fob.

Love you can touch the door handle and the Taco unlocks. Hate how many times I press the start button when I just want acc, or just radio and I get all coffafuld!

Wait!!! on our Subaru with the Fobs -- if you leave one in the car, you can't lock the car without going through a complex button pushing sequence, with a code one has to remember.
Is this the same with the Toyotas?

Every so often I need to move the MIL's RAV and that damn button messes with me. I wouldn't mind having it in my truck especially being able to just walk up and get in.

I thought you could take the key out of the fob and lock the truck manually from the outside, with the fob in the truck.

The mechanical key cylinder mechanism was a source of failure in many vehicles and is much more likely to fail, wear out, jam up, or catch fire than your push button start.

Pro tip: Don’t travel to any remote areas with a keyed ignition if children are in the vehicle. It’s downright irresponsible.

I'll have to try that next time. I was under the impression that if the fob was inside the cab no matter what you did it auto unlocked.
