Let’s keep this civil guys, it’s just wheel weights! And just to clarify, my current tires are E rated highway tires that the previous owner put on. They likely weigh more than the stock tires which are probably more around the range of 30 lbs. So going with an E rated AT tire with my F5’s would be the same weight as my current wheel/tire combo, but likely about 10 lbs more than the actual stock setup. If I go C rated AT3’s which I think weigh 46lbs I will be at 64lbs per corner which I imagine is very close to the actual stock wheel and tire weight.

Like I said, I regret nothing. And those lightweight rims you've got will help out tremendously. I'm still rocking the stock steelies. Even tho the profile is narrow it is a very large tire, around 32" tall and over 50lbs. Given the type of wheeling and abuse I put on my truck I am very happy I got E rated tires.

I had the ST Maxx in 255/80/17 on the 17" SR8. Darn good tires, very tough and durable for off-roading.

Nice regular cab! Did you regear? Also, off topic, which sliders are those? I’ve been thinking about doing the weld on Brute Force sliders.

I was going to regear but sold it before I got a chance to. The slider was from Marlin Crawler, it was a universal slider for the FJ80 that I'd made to work.

I no longer have this, I do miss it a lot. Got myself a JKU for more room. :notsure:

Do you have any lift on the truck at all? If you have 3", I would go with 285's. My truck had 285/75/16 and I changed to 305/65/17 and get just a little bit of rub. But the taller tires seem to look better with 2-3" of lift. It's fine for daily driving and I tow 2 different boats, just don't be in a hurry.

Nice JK! I’ve always wanted a wrangler but I want a truck bed. The gladiators are nice but so pricy!

Yes I have a 2” lift. That’s why I was considering the 33’s as I thought it would look better. I’m going to stick with 265’s as I really don’t need 33’s for the off-roading I do.

I'm running the General Grabber ATX 265/75/16 on my 2001 Tacoma TRD and love them. For an 8 ply tire they ride very good for a lite weight truck, I have been running them for just over a year on the Tacoma and they show no sign of wear and this is a daily driver, 80 mile round trip to work every day. They don't seem to kill power very much but I do have the 2.7 4 banger with a 5 speed so not a power house to begin with but I have seen gas mileage drop by 1 or 2 mpg. I had General Grabber AT2 before these and got probably 60 to 70,000 miles out of those tires so I have high hopes of getting about the same wear with these.

I average around 17-18 with these tires, on the stock size 265/70/16 General Grabber AT2 I had before i was getting 19-20 so it's not a huge drop. The ATX is an inch taller and probably 15lbs. per tire heavier.

I'm in a similar boat sitting here thinking about my next set of tires. I found the Firestone Destination XT 235/85r16 (almost 32") E load rating and only 39lbs per tire. I have yet to see anyone run this tire and only a few posts about people running this size. From everything I can figure, they look like a really great option.

none of the above,. those tires are way too heavy and the trucks not geared to run outside the OEM Spec for optimal performance, you might as well drive an ox cart because you will get to your destination a lot faster and economically

Had a 2007 2.7 regular cab, put some 265/75/16 on it, i try with the e rated duratracs and the e rated ko2, had some light alloy rims too,the 2.7 doesnt have the power for those tires, always had to downshift going up hills and could barely hold 65 on the highway, forget passing other cars had to drop in 3rd at 5500rpm to get any speed. So i went for the c load duratracs and what a difference it made, then tried the falken wildpeaks too and it was night and day difference.

This is what I am going to end up doing. I sold my SCS rims and am going to use the stock wheels with a 235/85/16. I haven't decided what tire yet, but at 39lbs those Destination XT's will definitely be in the running! Maybe eventually I will buy some light 7" wide wheels to gain some power back but for now it doesn't seem worth it.

I am frequently hitting 5500rpms on road trips. It is the reason I haven't done anything with the tires yet as I am worried that going larger and heavier on top of my lift and AT Summit will kill the power and mpg's further. I have taken about a 2mpg hit already with the camper.

Yes well thats what im thinking, going to bigger tires + e rated and also more aggressive you will definitely feel it, thats what got me to buy my tacoma with the 4.0, with heavier tires im getting a 1.5 mpg difference then with my 2.7 and its great to have that power when you need it, i have falken wildpeaks now 265/75/16 on my 4.0 v6 average about 17-18mpg with a 3inch lift kit, and i averaged about 18.5 on my single cab 2.7 with bigger tires,
