I wouldnt do it. Lifting via studs that are just nailed in by some minimum wage construction jockey looking to get off work as fast as he can? No way.

 

I mean, the joists can’t just fall. They’re held into place. Even without fasteners the shear weight would hold it in place.

Youre putting a lot of trust into a few 8 penny nails at either end of the joist. Not saying it would just crash down, but using wood to lift just isnt really a good idea in any situation. Too many factors at play that could go wrong over time.


If you must have something to hang horns on, build a rack thats on wheels, has a hoist on top that will raise and lower the painting tray or hanger. Be a good welding project.

 

The reason I like my design is I can walk under it. Being able to shoot paint at all angles is important for what I do.

 

How small has your PP reduced since you took delivery of this bad boy?

 

If it absolutely has to be a full size, and it does, then you have my blessing

 

Also, it’s a lot better than how I’m hanging my painting rack now. I’m hanging it from the angle iron for the garage door opener.

Like I said I’m not lifting engines, just to remove my RTT off and hang horns from.
