What size of Pontoon boat do you tow? How does it do? I am about to buy a 20' Suntracker and want to make sure it will tow fine to the lake. The weight including trailer on my new boat with me 3875 lbs.

My second time towing a car on a trailer. I’m regraded to 4.88 on 35s. Pulls nice, a little slow getting up to speed, but that’s expected. She was running between 194-199 on the coolant temps and a range of 150-190 on the transmission. This was all in east coast heat and a/c blasting. Supporting mods are a cfs aluminum radiator and a Hayden 12x12 transmission cooler with a fan.

Interesting the Tab 400 has the Alde hydroponic heating system. You get heat evenly throughout the unit instead of cold spots with a forced air furnace. Also, you don't get excessive battery drain because there is no furnace fan which is a big drain.

Only about 1,300 lbs loaded up, but we tow it through the mountains and about anywhere we’d like to go!

LOL, I am pretty sure I have gotten the worst MPG possible. I did find out that I have a bad bypass valve on the s/c and I also have three stripped out bolts on the intercooler lid. So with no boost the mpg goes way down. Got a whopping 5.6mpg from Pocatello, ID to Dillion, MT. Barely made the gas station stops at 96 miles. LOL. Parts are ordered so I can get back to getting 11 towing and maybe better since I found out that the bypass has been bad since the day I put it on, 50k miles ago. So I got horrible gas mileage to go camp at a paid RV park for the first time ever. LOL But it was to meet my parents and they were staying in there new trailer for the first time. They will be living in it in AZ for a few months out of the year.

We used to have a Rockwood Roo 233S. Great camper until it got cold. The 3 tip out bunks are just like camping in a tent when it comes to heat. Gets cold quick anything below freezing.

One of the few disappointments with my taco is the small fuel tank and lack of aftermarket options to increase the fuel tank size. The only option I could find was from Australia.

I would be willing to relocate the spare to substantially increase my fuel tank size.

It would be very hard and expensive to modify an extra tank into a Tacoma. Toyota vehicle run an evap test by drawing the fuel tank into a small vacuum and checks the system for leaks. Getting the system to work with an auxiliary tank would be an expensive thing fo do. Then there is the safety concerns that modifying a fuel system wouldn't meet safety standard laws. Would you buy a used Tacoma knowing someone added a extra fuel tank?

Had a hybrid also, a Kodiak 166E. Those tentends do get chilly.

I installed these air deflectors. Used extra magnets to keep them in place on the furnace cover. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Accord-Def...unt-Mount-Plastic-Floor-Air-Deflector/3260245

Very effective not only for the hybrid but our other trailers also. Instead of the heat being blasted straight out they spread it around. Have to get the thicker plastic version though, the first ones I bought melted.

She’s a stout truck capable of towing anything and everything. Remember keep her slow and steady, balance your load, brake controller a must. I tow up and down the west coast and over passes through BC and Washington, Oregon and Colorado. The Tacoma handles beautifully although your pocket book takes a hit as mileage per gallon drops as the weight increases.

Anything and everything? Eehhh....I wouldn't go quite that far.

Tacomas are capable tow rigs within reason, but if you're hauling anything heavy, or towing medium weights regularly, there are definitely better choices out there.
