Yeah my wife has USAA and I've been eligible for it now since we got married last year. I've just been slacking on switching over. But if I remember right they quoted me around $85/month over the phone. I'd love to get a lower deductible though if I can

I figured $500 is safe, plus the 5.0 is financed and I think Ford requires a $500 deductible.

I have a few claims and the only time my rates have gone up are when they raised the rates for everyone after all the CA fires; didn't even go up when my girl had a total loss (she wasn't at fault).

    Been with USAA since 2004.

I've been with Esurance since I got my truck, they were the only reasonable rate at the time...a lot of the bigger companies wanted a lot to insure my truck because I financed a chunk of it when I bought it in 2016 (wasn't cheap with 24k miles). They see it as risky when someone finances a 15 year old vehicle and I guess I can understand that in a general sense.

They send me threatening emails a few times a year about raising my rates if I don't tell them how many miles I'm driving per month, I always ignore them and they've never raised the rate. My dad works in insurance and told me that you aren't required to give that info away even though insurance companies will say that you need to.

Probably drives them crazy that they can't find that info on carfax since I do my own maintence too lol.

I don't know if it's a state thing or federal, but insurance companies love to harass people over how many miles they put on their cars annually but at least in CA you don't have to tell them that information. A lot of people do though and then they get their rates raised as a result if they drive a lot.

Insurance is such a shady business but it's one of those necessary evils

My brother worked for Geico for a couple years but quit because he couldn't take it anymore. He was a claims adjuster too which is probably one of the worst insurance jobs you can have (dealing with people and their car accidents every day)

I’ve removed the beds on the 1st and 2nd Gen, the 2nd Gen is 100x easier. Just those six Torx bolts from the top and the taillights. The fuel neck just snaps out. It’s very simple

They don’t harass me. But they do want the mileage per year.but when you have 2 other cars that do less than 5k a year they assume the other is likely the same

We thought the fuel pump was bad because it wouldn’t start. We sprayed Ether into the PCV and it would start. It’s a double cab so we couldn’t just pull out the pump.

Turns out the fuel pump was fine. The immobilizer was bad.

It didn’t occur to any of us. Toyota said it was the immobilizer or something. Changed the fuel pump for nothing.
