    Hi all,
I have a 2016 Tacoma SR5 V6 with automatic transmission and I have been doing a bit of research about @OVTune. I live in Ethiopia in Africa and the Toyota dealership here does not offer any TSB updates for Tacoma. So I was thinking about getting the OVtune package but I am a bit confused about the different types of Octane numbers(87,91,93) and would love it if someone recommends one for me because we get only regular gas here. And I honestly don't need all of that extra power. I just want the stupid truck to shift gears right and respond to the throttle like it should.

    Welcome to TW!

Pretty cool that they offer these tacos in Africa, i thought 3rd gen tacos were for north america only. So you must have hilux too then?

Sorry, i know nothing about OV tune.

Well the thing is I imported it from North America. They actually don’t sell tacos here

Usually want to look for a Research Octane Number (RON) but I think that's a North America thing. Look for any sort of numbers dictating gas quality at the pump then do conversion to RON.

Since your truck is a US import applying the tune should be no problem, shipping the hardware (cable/OBDII adapter) may be a little more difficult with customs ect.. but doable. Once you have the cable and OBDII adapter you can download a free version of techstream and do all the TSB updates that apply to your truck while waiting on OVTune to provide you with the registration key.
Once you have that you will have a full menu of tune octane options available for your truck. You say you only get "regular" gas where you are at,in that situation I would load the 87 base tune and call it good, that tune will have all the refinements to get your engine running better and your transmission shifting problem improved.
