Yep so here’s it somewhat unboxed and the front caring has the extra bend, as well as the side rails have an extra bevel to them as well. Mines a 2nd gen dblcab with the big shark fin

And here’s the shots of door trim that i cut to size from a like 9ft thing i saw on Amazon too link is on an earlier post in this thread (thought i bought weather stripping, but looks good to me and adds a little rubber protection from rubbing the paint.)

Has anyone tried something to fill in those two openings in the front faring just above the edge piece? I’ve heard mixed things about the road noise and assumed that part would probably make some noise? Correct me if I’m wrong though

Exactly! but both are said to fit both 2nd and 3rd gen. They are just slightly different in a few ways.

Yeah thats the 05-19 version. Hmm now I am curious about what is being sent to me. The listing says 05-15, but the price is the same as yours... it should be about $10 less. Oh well, we'll find out on the 10th. Hopefully all the other changes were made other than the shark fin cut out. I would assume that is the only reason for the differences in year.

I just “weather sealed” all the lights with some sealant. Quick and easy opened them all up with an Allen key, and slapped some lube between the rubber, glass, and areas that make contact together and closed em back up. Gonna get some different mounting hardware cause ppl said that part rusts pretty quick. Lol not the prettiest job with keepin the grease under control but oh well they’re kinda a bonus in my eyes anyways so if they don’t work no biggie

I grabbed some brass/zinc coated ones from Oreilleys.

Haven’t figured out the electrical part yet so holding off on doing anything with the lights
But she fits like a glove

What is the consensus on wind noise from this roof rack? I read the whole thread and some say they get a lot of noise and few say they have eliminated it. I’m about to pull the trigger but I do a lot of highway driving and so wind noise would be a pretty large factor for me.

True. My thought is if wind noise from up top becomes too much of a problem I'll probably do some headliner sound dampening. Because I don't think Tacomas have anything between the sheet metal roof and the headliner.

I did some highway tests right after putting it on this afternoon, you can hear it for sure, but it’s nothing crazy or unbearable

Went up to 85/90 a couple times, the faster you go the more you hear it obviously, but between 50-70 no biggie at all
