Personally, I like a decent amount of float on my mountain bike. It helps me move weight around a little better, and it has the effect of acting like a DIN setting on ski bindings. My feet pop out if I fall... which helped on a fall I took going over a jump on Sunday.

Agreed. I went with the 10 degree easy release cleat. I have 6 degrees of float which means I usually unclip on impact

Thats what I run, with the Mallet E's. Great set up. Only had one instance where they came out during a whip but luckily I was able to save it. Other than that, I love having the early release.

...here in my area we went straight from snow to mud and flooding to 100+ degree days and finally dry enough to ride...for a month and a half... Most people have swapped over to gravel bikes this season.

I'm pretty sure that I will be purchasing a YT Jeffsy 29 soon. Just saving the cash to do it. You get a lot of bike for the money.

Go with flats. You never know when you’ll need to bail. Lol

I came from Crank Bros Stamp pedals, and still have a set of Stamp 1's for the jump days and wheelie practice. Nothing against flats, but theres nothing like bombing down rough trail and not having to worry about slipping off.

I've never ridden either 27.5 or 29. This is my first mountain bike...

Suppose to snow this week, so trying to enjoy the last bit of fall. Only tough decision is riding or fly fishing.

Also - does anyone have any write ups or info on homemade bike racks. Going weld one up here shortly to go on my swing out.

Man. Don’t over think it. I’ll be building one once I get a garage space lol. Goto etrailer.com and they have literally every bike rack part you need to make your own.

they have the mounts that your tire sits on or the ones that go over the wheel or the ones you hang your bike on. Just spend some time and think about how you want to mount it and then order the parts and build.

Awesome! I'll take a look. Was wondering about buying those pieces and fabbing the frame, so that sounds perfect.

You could literally piece your own rack together if you wanted to build your own while still using the fancy tie down systems the store ones do.

I want to build myself a swingout one soon as well so I did some digging and came up with all this. Lot cheaper than buying one too

New Bike Day for the wife! Glad she’s getting more interested in Mt.Biking but I’ve now officially spent more on bikes for her than for me. We were looking for used but kept missing them by minutes...including today! The good folks at Alpine Bike Works in Killington took pity on us and hooked her up with a 2020 Trance!8885A602-1FD2-44B5-9BF8-306DFCD5F23A.jpg
