you must not live in a populated area

We get the driveway Mon - Fri but the girl that rents the guest house gets the driveway on weekends (sucks when I want to work on my truck on my days off), drives me crazy when I can't park my truck in front of our house. We have neighbors that will park their car and just leave it for days on end. Makes me want to paint the curb red with washable paint so I can claim the spot in front of our house when I want it.

You know its bad when you live on a street where sometimes you gotta circle the block 10 times to park a block from your house. Aka san fransico and parts of Berkeley

Yeah that fucking blows, luckily it's nowhere near that bad in the town I live in. But in some parts of LA it is. When we first started dating my wife lived in the Hollywood area and it was a goddamn nightmare to try and park there when I would go over. Not to mention constantly worrying that my truck was going to get stolen.

Worst thing about inner city parking (aside from the over-population) are the parking restrictions. In LA (and probably SF) they're so bad you can't even make sense of them half the time. Luckily we live in a small suburb so we don't have those...just street cleaning restrictions for a few hours on Thursdays and Fridays.

When your <10 years old you can get away with saying a lot of insulting things, because children tell it like it is and adults have to accept it because they don't know any better lol.

We have 2 assigned parking spots and I've been used to having my own parking for so long I'd go ape shit if I had to fight for parking.

It's hard finding a 1 bedroom apartment out here with a garage, that's available.

My life will complete the day we own our own house with a big garage.

Maybe not 'complete'....but pretty damn close

Oh and even though I don't share personal shit on here, here's one for you guys -

so my GF and I of 8 years recently decided to break up. I work way too many hours, and have focused my time off on enjoying the outdoors.

The GF is a full time student at UC Santa Cruz; her commuting to and fro takes a lot of time, not to mention working part time and studying a lot.

It worked out though; we will remain really good friends and we actually share some 'benefits' as if we were still a couple.

Renting the house out and getting an apartment in the city just makes sense in the meantime.

Yeah sometimes I think back and wonder if I should've purchased elsewhere.

I own my home free and clear, but used all my savings to do so. I have no garage, and have had to put work into the house to bring some things up to snuff. There's still more to go but at a certain point, you just say fuck, I have to enjoy my time off.

The one nice thing though is I still have my VA benefit that'll guarantee a portion of a home loan, as well as go through private financing, which can get me into another home right away with no money out of pocket.

I'll save that benefit for when the time comes and either sell my home, or rent it out for good.

Sorry to hear that...but it sounds like it was amicable, that's the best any of us can hope for when a relationship comes to an end. I was a serial monogamist so I've had my fair share of long-term relationship breakups lol. It's never easy but the ones that end on mutual terms are easier to work through. 8 years is a long time

Oh yeah, I remember some of the shit we all recently posted about relationships lol

I'm glad we ended the way we did; we really just kind of grew apart and it happens.

The break up was seriously very recent, like 1 week ago recent. We still went to the movies just a few days ago, and text often when we're away.

We live together now even, and we're just like room mates. Watching South Park as we speak..
