DIY mods for the 95-04 tacomas!!!

So this is what I did tonight (in the amount of about 30-45 minutes). Replaced the dual usb cigarette lighter adapter, with a dual usb power port with a voltmeter.
I disconnected and removed the old cigarette lighter and heat shields and installed the new power port. I cut the old plug off and "repurposed" the factory wires with female spade connectors.
Hint hint hint....1996 toyota tacoma 2.4L cigarette lighter wire colors are grey/red stripe=positive and white/black stripe=negative.

 

These might give you some fun headlight ideas.

 

This is what I made took a couple weeks but turned out solid.

 

98 , after installing my Bert's customs high and tight bumer i had to relocate turn signals into marker light housing, as you can see i retain the 194 marker light bulb but i drill a 1" hole approximately 1" below existong socket hole, afyer a small pilot hole my stepdrill made quick work of it , now you fish the dirctional bulb up the marker light housing location, i then took note of the 4 notches on directional socket i marked then on housing with a sharpie, then very carefuly i cut out the 4 notches a little at a time and keep test fiting till it plugs in, i had purchased 2 amber 1156 bulbs one for each side then pugged them in and insert sockets, next reistall marker housing and your all set , no cutting of wires and it looks factory

super straight forward and looks EASY. From what I gather It's a direct hook up? Just using the ACC wire to read the Voltage off the battery?
I'm not very electrical savvy and for some reason all along I was thinking I needed to run a wire to the battery.
Been doing my research to set up an auxiliary battery so monitoring voltage will be important.

 

I have a hard enough time seeing my clock as it is, for me it's pointless for it to read anything at all. If you want a clock to work on let me know. You can have mine.

 

Same, although I'll keep mine. I opted to replace a cigarette lighter with a USB and voltmeter setup.

 

do you have a tilt steering wheel?
I noticed I cannot see my clock with the wheel tilted up because the wiper controls are in the way until I lower the wheel and then its easy to see, maybe its different with how tall somebody is and what position the steering wheel is in

 

Trickle charger port...goes right to battery terminal. My daily commute is about 5 min max drive so not enough to keep battery going in winter. Works great and no worries about getting it started in subzero cold in morning.

 

Have any of y’all done the front grille mod with the Toyota lettering?

 

Looks great on that 95 - 97 front end, like it was meant to be there in the first place. I'm not so sure it would look as good on my 01-04 front end, but I'm tempted to try it.

The 01 - 04 front end just doesn't look as good as the 95 - 97 period, lol.

 

Oh damn, didn't even realize yours was a 2000...nice. Yeah that's something I'd like to do but unfortunately I have a list of a million other things that take priority lol.
