I had a 2013 Ridgeline, it was a fine vehicle for what it did but it was a bit too limited for my use. It was sold off and now that I have my Tacoma it feels much more useful for my life. I have a Heavy Duty Ram also for when I really need to haul or pull stuff. Wife has a Pilot for all the family things.

This is the most truthful post I've read in a while. It's hilarious the amount of people who rag on the ridgeline, yet the most work their truck gets is putting on tire shine on their KO2's and parking their Icon lifted TRDORDCSB to go check out some overlanding gear at Dicks Sporting Goods

Amen! I see people with off-roads that the only time they are off-road is when the driveway is full and they have to park on the grass. LOL!

Honda's genius knows no bounds. There are a lot of us who own trucks that are used primarily for commuting during the week, and suburban duties on the weekends. Their trucks will never be lifted, never see a mountain trail. They have no use for MT-rated tires, locking diffs, high clearance. And that's fine. Honda's got you. This thing has all the comfort of a tried and true Honda SUV with the ability to haul mulch or your kid's sports gear or that new dishwasher without having to worry about trashing the interior carpet in a cargo area. It looks like a pickup, but it's just so much easier to live with. I'm a big fan of the swing-out tailgate and in-bed trunk. Honda really thought out of the box for this one, and that's great, because attempting to make a straight Tacoma competitor would've been a non-starter.

It just bugs me when some auto publication throws it in the ring of some comparison test with a Tacoma and test only what the Ridgeline is good at, aka "how good of a car is this truck?" Get off the pavement, then we'll talk.

Agreed, maybe they were going for a modern day Subaru Brat or ElCamino. But to me all I can see is what a 2nd gen Pontiac Aztec’s would have looked like

    Because...vanity.
If more people would be just...who they are... instead of... some fake persona... the world would be a much different place.

For example, between silly Instagram posts and what's the word to describe those guys....oh, HIPSTER! guys, and youtube videos from people who know absolutely nothing about the subject, when I hear the word "overland" I think of some poor guy, laying on his couch, eating a Twinkie while posting pics of his over the top modded Tacoma parked across the street near the wooded lot (background for pics) knowing he is never going to get that truck dirty.

Lots of people live impractical, vanity lifestyles. Nothing wrong with that if it works for them.

Take a drive from LA to Mammoth sometime... no shortage of city dwelling 9-5 dudes in late-model $50k trucks, obligatory 3-day mountain man beards, flannel shirts, Ray-bans, beds filled with Yeti coolers and fishing rods, stopping at every Starbucks along the way to get their half calf soymilk lattes and pumpkin cookies.

Nah, had a 2014 CR-V before my Tacoma. When I started looking at trucks I looked at the Ridgeline because Honda's have treated me well.

NO WAY, it was just like my CR-V. Odd non-functional interior with a LOW center console, no front tow hook, no MT, and felt "weak" like my CR-V. My civic treated me well, my CR-V is a joke in the segment NOT utilitarian. The Ridgeline felt the same as the two.... If I was getting a truck to use as a work truck, the Ridgeline does not fit the bill, or so in my own eyes. Long story, went literally across the street and eventually choose the Tacoma. Chevy was a close 2nd, but no MT and well it is a chevy...

Im pretty sure it would work for me needs wise, but come on. Im thinking about getting a DD gas saver for all the driving I do, and maybe this might be an option. Ive been looking into a corolla, but then that 30mpg tundra might be a possibility, or even that hybrid rav4, now this is on the table. Ive really strayed from the little car I was thinking about.

I'd agree, I traded my 07 Ridge for my 19 Taco. Those 2 design features were great.

    How guys get Ridgelines.

Guy: Honey, I want to get a truck.
    Wife: No.
Guy: But I really want one.
Wife: You don’t need a truck.
Guy: Look. This one is really nice.
Wife: Ok. You can get a Ridgeline.

Growing up pops had a beat up rust bucket Toyota Hilux we used for hauling all kinds of junk. My older brother had an 87 Toyota 4x4. Fast forward to my adult life and my wife drives a Honda Pilot with 200K miles and I'm looking to buy truck. Of course with the Pilot being reliable I take a long look at the Ridgeline and decide it's not "truck looking" enough for me. Besides Toyota trucks are just as reliable right? So I pick up an OR DCLB and I love it. I'm sure the Ridgeline would suit my everyday needs and I probably won't go "wheelin" in my Tacoma every weekend but I'm happy with it. Pops would be proud lol.

This is funny because my wife said the opposite. "If you're going to get a truck get a TRUCK not a Ridgeline".

Funny story - I was walking out to my Tacoma from the Target parking lot yesterday, and I caught a dude really looking my truck over. My truck isn't all that unique, so compliments and " 'mirins" are a rare thing for me. But then I saw why, the guy crossed the aisle and loaded his groceries into a Chevy Trax, still with dealer tags on it. Poor bastard had the most downtrodden, depressed look I have seen on a man in a long while. I'm pretty sure I saw his spirit break when he drove away. As I watched him slowly motor out onto the main road, I thought to myself, would a Ridgeline be capable of making another grown man cry? Because a stock Tacoma just made another grown man cry.
