Also, if you’ve never had a Perfect Bar, you should try them. They taste amazing. They’re extremely calorie dense, so be aware of that.

I workout at home just fine. I love the gym more but home fitness can be extremely challenging and beneficial.

It’s a part of the mental game. Some do better with one over the other for various reasons. I do better going somewhere for the separation and so that I don’t have to deal with the equipment.

Went for a ride this morning and it took a few hours

This is what happens whenever you’re running out of time to get your calories in and trying to get more in

I've always been thin and assumed there was nothing I could do about it. IMHO, the long and the short of it is two things.

1- eat more. You could count calories and get very into it or start by simply, say, adding a meal a day or big shake to what you currently eat. And at least count your protein enough to get a min of 1g/lb of body weight. And good real food is much better than average or junk.

2- lift big. This means compound lifts and heavy weights. Obv respect good form and your body's limits. But think big here. A program like starting strength, or stronglifts, etc., should work well for a beginner. Then move on when you stall, they don't work forever.

The gym suggestion is cuz you won't get far on "a few dumbbells". But you could do that for a few weeks while you YouTube proper form on the big lifts (deadlift, squat, bench, ohp, rows, pull-ups) then join a gym and get serious.

Hit it right and hard but do what's right for you and listen to your body. Everyone will have a suggestion and good ones have been posted here, but you do you. This comes from my knowledge and personal experience.

I started my journey 25 years ago this Dec at 5'11" 135lbs 16 yrs old... I ate like a bird but pumped iron 6-7 days a week for 3-5 years straight. Somewhere in there I learned to eat more often and take a day off to recover. Granted I had youth on my side but consistency is everything. I've had small to moderate injuries throughout but have never stopped... I'm thankful I've never had to miss more than a few days in the last quarter century:) the advice and stories in here have been fun to read and at times motivated me to knock it out. I'm 41 202lbs and fill out a white tank top:cool: if you have a proper home gym you can definitely get the job done. Truly depending on what you want will determine your path you need to take. I like to lift big and have that 1980's wwf hacksaw Jim Duggin look... So, P90X ain't going to cut it.. for some it will though! Happy Sunday be well

Went to see Hobbs and Shaw with the family tonight, movie was longer than I expected but I was determined to get a run in tonight.
About .7 miles in my lower back started pulling so I slowed my pace. I’m a little disappointed in my speed but I’m happy I logged the distance.
I’m not sure if the back pain is from sitting in the recliner at the theatre and then running or improper form (maybe both?) but two things for sure I need to be drinking more water and I need to get my newer running shoes from the other house, these ones have too many miles on them to properly support my feet.
Now it’s time for a quick shower and then get some sleep before I have to get up in 6 hours for work.

Yep, I’m not sure if I’ll be in the January academy or June academy (Chief mentioned he would like us to be finished with FTO before we go) but I’ll be ready whenever it comes around.

You'll get used to it, I've been doing it for about 3 years. 16-8 is going to turn into 20-4 you'll see. Your body becomes a machine after a while and you'll feel great. Have some guys at my gym start fasting with no change in their routines at all and just drop 20-30 pounds. There is definitely something to it.

So far it’s easier than I thought. Hardest part is gonna be the upcoming holidays or fasting in the morning and getting invited out in the evening for food or whatever.

Yeah have to roll with the punches for special occasions. If you're fasting everyday it's not like one day of normal eating is going to throw everything off. I eat 8am-12pm and then fast the rest of the day, so social occasions in the evening are always a challenge to work around.
