Spot the FAKE

Oh and I think the one on the right is a fake...IIRC the Denso sensors have the holes in a straight line like they do on the left. I could be wrong though, been awhile since I changed mine out.

 

Upstream sensor is the same for 2 or 4 WD. Only makes a difference for downstream sensor.

 

O2 and air/fuel sensors have different hole patterns unless it's a fake. Genuine air/fuel sensors have a hole in the bottom and 4 rows of 2 smaller holes on sides.

I have an extra o2 sensor and refrained from posting until I took it out of my parts box -



Purchased new from Rockauto months ago.

 

Calling a air/fuel sensor an O2 sensor is like calling fuel injection a carburator

 

Point of the post was to post the 'real' part.

What's the deal with the fake? Getting your money back?

 

I get your point but air/fuel sensors should always be called by what they do. Elimates confusion. As to the eBay fakes; Seller has been very good at sending more fakes every time I notify them of incorrect part in correctly numbered box. I now have 3 fakes and another one on the way. Their 5 star rating is also fake. HONG KONG co. shipping from Ontario, California.

 

I ordered a pair set upstream air/fuel. downstream O2 on a lark. Their O2s are pretty fair and do funtion as per oe spec but putting a short wire and a/f connector on an O2 doesn't make it an air/fuel sensor.

 

So at what point do you stop asking for more parts and get your OEM parts from a reputable source?

If you suspect they are counterfit (vs. just non OEM), then report them and go to your dealer for the part.

 

I have oe Densos from Denso products.com I just received #4 eBay replacement and seller now wants to send me full refund after I contacted 5th time.

 

In other words, why'd you bother with the fake in the first place?

 

Because I now have 8 universal O2 sensors 4 of which are thread type and 4 thread to 2 hole plate adapters which are handy doing the plug extension O2 trick. Plus a full refund and some twisted satisfaction from scamming the scammers.

 

Couple things here:

Are you suspecting these are *counterfeit* or merely non-OE off brands? There is a difference between OEM replacement, and genuine OEM. You have a link to the add?

2nd, are you telling me that there's an E-bay selling that is less than reputable out there selling something they aren't being entirely honest with? I'm shocked. SHOCKED I tell you.

eBay rules for buyer require contacting seller before applying for eBay money back guarantee, returns or reporting counterfeit or other than advertised merchandise. Seller offers free return shipping but it's cheaper to let buyer keep the parts and ship replacements.

Thanks for digging this up. I’m leaning towards a crappy connection in that butt splice because occasionally this thing runs amazing, if it was an improper sensor it would never run properly. What’s the best way to resplice it? Solder doesn’t stick to those wires if I remember correctly.... maybe a HD crimp and heat shrink? Wire nuts and tape? It’s out of harms way...

 

the right side looks fake to me, but they could both be fake. I went through several fake ones from Amazon. they are notorious for selling fake homemade O2 sensors under brand names. I got a downstream one once and it was listed as the brand name but in a ziplock bag when it arrived. it lasted about 6 months before failing.
