I think for many of us (myself included) our truck habits make little sense from a practical standpoint, so who am I to judge

I might end up taking my wife's Accord when she gets a newer car soon and then I'll have two cars that constantly need working on.

That would be impressive, I've torn a boot on install before but have yet to "snap" an axle by hand lol

truth be told I've only ever had one CV actually break and of all of the shitty axles I've used, it was an OEM one.

I do miss having a car I'd have to work on from time to time o_O

GM's have always been reliable to me; I had only 1 optispark failure on an LT1, 1 bad alternator on an L98, and the rear end of my current Z06.

One that left me working a lot on the car was one of the Z31's; had some electrical gremlins in that bad boy.

yeah my truck doesn't ever really "need" working on, it's more just shit I do to it that I either want to do or feel it would benefit from. Knock on wood in 3+ years my truck has never left me stranded when I needed it.

The Accord on the other hand I'll have to get familiar with working on because if I do take it as a 2nd car, I'm not going to have a shop do anything to it. I'll have my truck to use as backup so I can actually take my time working on it if I need to.

It’s coming along swell. I’m going to finish it this Wednesday. I’ve got the CRT mounted up.

I also scraped the 26 year old adhesive and paint off the control panel as well as sandblasted it. I’m riveting a new piece of sheet metal for it. Next up is all the electrical.

    Fuck that's badass.

I'd be too lazy (and lacking) and overpay for one already done up.

@Kwikvette My buddy who I’m giving the cabinet to asked me to change his rear speakers in his 1999 PreLude last Saturday. He asked me to throw the stock ones away.

I threw them in something alright. I bet he isn’t expecting to see (hear) them again.

    They sound horrendous.

I have about ~$500 into it. I wouldn’t be surprised if I can get $1,500 for it when it’s done, especially since it’s running emulation software.

Shit you should use the build thread you have for it as a means to restore others for profit as a side hustle. Gotta be some people out there that would want it done with few options to rely on for it

Little solid state amp should run those bad boys with ease; home amps are 8ohm and not all are 4ohm stable (which most car speakers are).

Bet he'll be surprised you used the speakers again lol

I did on the last two parts store ones but they are going to be trail spares only.

It's crazy how easy it is to rip a parts store boot. Whatever they're made out of it's incredibly weak compared to what Toyota uses.

The biggest issue here is the games themselves. They’re all owned by their respective copyright holders. The only way to get the ROM’s is illegally. I can’t sell them.

There’s a company that exits who makes modern half size reproduction cabinets of certain games called. Arcade 1Up. They are fully licensed.

I really enjoy restoring things. This has been a blast from step 1.
