    Hey everyone,
Last week I had my local shop put new powerstop rotors and pads and new oreily's calipers on my Truck in the front. I've driven it now for over 100 miles and it is stopping with less power than when I had a seized right caliper. Is it possible they didn't pump the brakes and that's why the power is gone? Thanks!

might be a ceramic pad, the OEM factory pads are semi metallic better bite, or the new pads need a little more break in time

Did you do the pad bedding procedure?

I had powerstops on my 13 and they were much better than OEM.

Could also be the shitty oreily's calipers..

What’s the bedding procedure? I had a shop do it. They’re a good shop, usually.

pretty sure ceramic pads just deal with heat better and are more quiet than semi metallic. I don't think they actually grip better, you would have to go to the dark side of para aramid pads for that.

I did it today. We’ll see if that helps. The oreilly calipers looked pretty good. Maybe I was wrong

Normally the increase is substantial and immediate.

    Btw,
Do you have a brand name of the pads you went to? Are they also PS? Are the rotos cross drilled or/and slotted? We're the old stuff stock?

All the old stuff was stock and I now have power stop drilled and slotted and the ceramic power stop pads that came with the drilled and slotted ones

Drilled and slotted rotors you actually have less surface area for the pads to bite on. The benefit would be the added cooling, but if you’re not driving the thing like a sprint cup truck or towing down a mountain, there is no added benefit for daily driving. Cars that have factory slotted or drilled rotors have more pistons in the calipers which put a lot more force on the rotor, also causing more heat. However that’s what the slots and holes are for, cooling because they actually have more braking force.

generally cross drilled/slotted have lower performance unless your rotors are really getting pushed.

for the pads, powerstop has several ceramic pads. Do you remember which ones they were? e.g. "z36".

The type of pads used will play a big roll in stopping performance. Generally, ceramic pads will produce less brake dust, be quieter, and last longer. Semi metallic pads will perform better, but can occasionally squeal and will produce more brake dusts.

What would be a great pad to replace these if I decide they’re not stopping quick enough?

nothing is wrong with powerstop. GENERALLY, pads work well cold or well hot. For every day driving, pads that work well cold are ideal.

I couldn't find one for powerstop but here is an example. Don't take the specific numbers for the pads on this chart these as fact, just as a general example. "Mu" is the friction. Notice that there are pads like the DTC-70 that have very high friction but need to be over 400F
