My body is getting used to the larger meals and eating more in a shorter time. It is a challenge to fit it all in.

I’ve been enjoying getting to eat more nutrient sense foods like red meats, salmon, fatty chicken etc. I always eat those anyways but now I get more.

Glad to know you’ve made it work anyway. Especially with holidays coming up. 7am-2pm is my eating time right now. Working out fasted in the morning hasn’t been terrible too.

It’s been interesting to try so far so gonna keep rocking with it

    It is.

What I enjoy to is your stomach growls deep into a fast... but your not hungry... so your brain is just like “shut up stomach”. Which is cool. I like that it hijacks your body’s hunger and satiety signals.

IF encourages a lot of metabolic adaptations for the body. Same with keto. Your body is taking on new metabolic adaptations so your energy balance is shifting.

The calories in, calories out model is incorrect. We understand that cellular metabolism is much more complex. The issue has been developing a new model to replace it.

A calorie is not a calorie. What you eat is at this point starting to be understood as being more important than how much you eat.

You should be able to consume more calories on keto and IF than you can in the SAD and lose weight more effectively.

    Its not magic, its science.

How do we know that to be true, though? You follow Layne, right? He his disproved all the IF science and comes back to CiCO at the end of the day through studies. Typically, people do not record everything they eat - gum, lick a spoon here or there, don't weigh things even tho package says 1 serving (but gives a gram serving and package has more grams therefore labeling is inaccurate), so it's very likely alot of traditional diets are somewhat false because of inaccuracy.

For the same reason you use insulin. Insulin goes in, tells your energy (food) to go to your muscle for recovery and rebuilding.
So that means you are consuming X calories and they are avoiding the fat storage process and going directly to lean mass. Which means your cellular metabolism is different than someone consuming the same calories but not using insulin in the same manner. You can consume more energy but its not going to fat.
Your are manipulating insulin to manipulate cellular metabolism.

IF is the exact same thing in reverse. Shifting how your body utilizes the energy you consume (or store) differently.

Your body’s hormonal response to energy changes based on whether you utilize carbs or fats as an energy source. CICO is a gross oversimplification that is overall incorrect.

The problem is, creating a model that is as easy to understand and grasp to replace the CICO model. It makes it hard for the lay person to understand nutrition and health, so we lean back on CICO. The problem with always going back to the simpler model is we never progress as a society in understanding nutrition and metabolic disease.
The body is more complex than CICO.

CICO is only part of the explanation, not the whole thing. So thats not to say the entirety of the theory is wrong its just not the whole story so we can’t rely on it as the end all be all.

Yeah no shit but I do believe there are more benefits than just calorie restriction- I really think IF gives your body a break from digestion keeps your metabolism healthy along with increasing insulin sensitivity. Some people say it helps regulate hormones/boosts testosterone which might be a stretch but who knows
