Looks like it's somewhere up the 39 maybe? I always see a lot of dirt roads off that highway but most have gates or look like they just go up to a power line and then stop

We used to have the Rincon Truck trail going all along the top of the San Gabriel Mountains but unfortunately they closed that trail down several years ago. Last I checked it out maybe 8 months ago it was still locked anyway.

I think the closest 'trails' to me here in Monrovia is the Azusa OHV park, but I'd rather sit in traffic on the 405 than go to that place again (maybe not but you get my point). Next closest that I know of would be Cleghorn/Pilot Rock or Rowher/Drinkwater Flats in the opposite direction

this was off the 18. Really easy drive to get there and I did some of the trail after dark. We went for a sunset dinner.

last I check it’s still locked I’m sad that place is gone.

ya I avoid Azusa ohv. Plus only open on the weekends. Plus I’m not trying to pay to play there are plenty of free places around.

rowher is cool but some spots are garbage from people rutting them out I don’t go there much any more.

I have been really stuck on stoddard wells area and Apple valley. Since we are on this side of town is a much better drive and so much more territory to cover.

Sorry buddy I honestly couldn’t tell you 100%. I want to say yes but I also had 4x4 on the whole time because I hadn’t turned it on in awhile and made the drive simple.

If anyone is down to go let me know I would love to do it again with more trucks

I've never been to Stoddard yet, most of the year I avoid the desert trails just because I loathe hot weather lol. But it's getting closer to the time of year I'd be up for it. My go-to for trails is is usually Big Bear. I used to do Rowher a lot but it got pretty dull, and last time I attempted Drinkwater the storms from last winter made the gate keeper practically impossible (haven't tried it since).

I'd be up to check this new spot out sometime, nice to know of nearby trails for a quick getaway even if they are easy

Stoddard is so fun! There are also soooooo many trails ranging from hard to easy. Ya the heat does suck but I deal with it. I really want to do big bear more.

I’m going to go somewhere this Saturday probably back to that truck trail or maybe stoddard haven’t really decided yet. Now that you say big bear that also seems very appealing.

What do you guys recommend for me? Never really done off roading, but trails through water and mud and dirt sound fun, nothing crazy like crawling lol just some nice scenery and cool fun trails

lots of open fire roads and a variation of difficulty so you can get your toes wet.

Big Bear has miles and miles of fire roads that are 2wd friendly...also some 4x4 only trails but the main fire roads are good for 2wd. Check out Coxey Road, goes from the high desert near Hesperia all the way up to the top of Big Bear mountain. 2wd friendly as long as it isn't raining or snowing.

Also the main Pilot Rock trail is 2wd friendly. You can take that from the high desert into Lake Arrowhead.

I’m also down for a Starbucks coffee meet at the 2/210 location right next to the theaters if we do something in the future. Good parking lot with lots of space.
