Ecological consulting. Currently one study investigating the use of automated methods (cameras and acoustics, incomplete counts) for monitoring waterbirds, compared to the traditional visual pedestrian counts (our control, complete counts). Easy parts is the bird counts, but then comes the count statistics, statistical analysis comparing methods, and final report with findings.

My other study is a wildlife permeability study. I map freeway infrastructure that animals such as mountain lions, Bobcats, etc could use to get under freeways. End product is a geodatabase. It is used for a permeability analysis by another consultant doing camera trapping monitoring wildlide use of the culverts and underpasses and roadkill surveys. The point is to identify locations that are permeable so the client can purchase and preserve properties on either side. Also we work with the transportation agency to increase permeability where there are problem areas (clean out culverts, add directional fencing, and even build new crossing structures).

But yeah... the bird count stuff.
