Worrisome, but hopefully can be contained to just a grassfire. Not far from home in the respect of air quality. It’s already “grungey” out here.

Fire died down by my house but it’s still moving east towards homes and a shopping center. As of now I think I’m safe.

Cal Fire has been on it this year.

Feels like they have 100% commitment to everything.

    It’s working!

There was a smaller fire near the shop a month or so ago. I'd say that within 30 minutes, there was a spotter and two tankers that orbited before making a couple of drops each when they were done, a helicopter with a bambi bucket.

I'd say this year, they're hitting anything hard.

One of many stops in Scotland included Sterling Castle. The first record of Stirling Castle dates from around 1110, when King Alexander I dedicated a chapel there. It appears to have been an established Royal Centre by this time, as Alexander died here in 1124. In 1296, Edward the 1st of England, invaded Scotland, beginning the Wars of Scottish Independence, which would last for the next 60 years. The English found Stirling Castle abandoned and empty, and set about occupying this key site. They were dislodged the following year, after the victory of Andrew Moray and William Wallace at the Battle of Stirling Bridge. Eventually occupied by King Robert The Bruce, whose statue resides at the entrance to the castle. We never made it to the National Wallace Monument, but was able to snap a shot of it with my telephoto lens, from the Castle. The Wallace Monument was built between 1861 and 1869.

Oh yeah. I live under the flight path of the regional cal fire airport.

They’re in the air at the first hint of smoke.

I applause the effort. We really don’t need another Paradise or Santa Rosa Fire.

Or Rim Fire where they waited almost 24 hours before committing.

As of a minute ago my app was reporting 30 percent contained at 500 acres. That area is mostly grass. With some tree and shrubbery dispersed throughout. It appears to have breached the lynch canyon preserve area. I hike there often. Not a lot of dense fuel for it to get too hot I’d guess.

    Not that close fortunately.

I live down town Sonora. So anything south to east of Columbia I can see/hear them.

I’m finally a Tacoma owner again (been since 06). She’s a little rough and seen better days but for free I can’t complain. Love that my FIL causally mentions some things that don’t work as he’s giving me the keys (HVAC and windshield wipers). Best part was giving my princess a ride home shotgun for the first drive.
