Only state reporting anything close to $4 in this thread is California...

Looking at your imports, Canada sells you 4.29 million barrels a day while Saudi Arabia only sells you 900K a day. You guys export 7.6 million barrels a day to the world. True it is different blends of oil but I think the Saudi thing is just a reason to jack the price.

I spent 3 weeks in Italy last month and gas was about $6 a gallon.

I'm with @Speedbird here. It's definitely a cool place to visit, not for living though...considering:

    1. Super high gas prices.
    2. Super high population density.
    3. Super awful traffic in many areas.
    4. Super high cost of living.
    5. You live on top of a natural disaster waiting to happen.

I'm not convinced haha. Then again, I'm in Washington where in the Seattle area, all of those points still apply

Yeah, it’s a great place to live. I haven’t found a better place in our county. Happiness, I mean “true happiness” can only come from inside you and never from your external conditions. So leaving a place to be truely happier isn’t even logical. You take your problems with you.

I'm not disagreeing with you, and I think that's a great outlook. But for most people - external influences have a huge impact on happiness. For instance, I'd be much less happy than I am now if I didn't buy my Tacoma - one of those external influences I get to look at every day!

No, I visited many places looking for a better place and found none. California is VERY diverse with a full range of “cultures”. I have moved around CA to different cultures and settled to what I like. If I found a better place I would consider moving.
