    So this happened on Saturday:

High ankle sprain, lower abdominal contusion, and mild concussion with a bit of pedal bite for fun. Bike is still good as new except for the dropper post trigger (slammed abdomen into the saddle)

Still not as bad as the dude that came in right after me though:

    behold the taco!

Dang glad you’re ok all things considered. That sounds like a bad wreck that could’ve been worse.

    Now...

    Is there video? Lol.

It's all good until gravity wins...........Already had my fun with chainring chewing on shin earlier this year.........not quite as much fun as was had here tho it seems. My bike didn't feel a thing. I'm too old for too much fun, some fun is enough for me these days. I'm "trying" to exist on smaller more frequent doses...........careful out there. There is a point where the head is writing checks the body can't pay.

Hightower lt is considered old geometry now.

Will probably hold onto the bike for awhile as it’s still sick. The newer slacker / longer bikes are still questionable on bigger climbs. I have done 10k feet climbs on the Hightower lt. It’s super versatile.

it’s in post-production. The CGI and editors have to finalize it before the premiere.

(aka I haven’t opened up the GoPro yet. Lol)

Just found this thread. I dug my old mountain bike out of the basement last night to see what all i need to do to make it road worthy again. Its certainly nothing special, but i've racked up a ton of miles on it since i've had it since i was 18 or 19. Its just an old mongoose mountain bike, probably would be cheaper to buy another one of equal value than fix this one lol. I havent grown any since i got this one, im 6 foot tall and this bike has a 20 inch frame and 26 inch wheels. i dont think I need anything bigger?

well unless you go Walmart Special, expect to pay at least $500-$700 for the most basic entry bike in any conpanies lineup. If your looking for full suspension, you’re looking at $1700+ for aluminum frame with basic components.

it’s almost the end of the season so you may be able to find deals on demo bikes or online clearances as they shed the 2019s for 2020 stock.

my suggestions for a bike though:

u less you have rugged mountainous terrain, you can live with a hardtail. Make sure it has a 1by setup with at least a 42T rear cog. You can certainly live with a 2by but it’s just too inefficient and you’ll find yourself always changing gears. 3bys are a complete waste of money but I think those only found on road bikes nowadays.

Also something to keep in mind, if it’s a really good bike with a 2by: you can usually convert it to 1by for only about $150-$250, depending on crank and derailleur setup.

thats basically what i have now, maybe not walmart but i think we may have got it at dunhams or dicks sporting goods or something. I don't do any hardcore riding with it, there are a lot of rails to trails around me so thats pretty much what i stick to at this point. the wife will go for a ride with me and be able to do it, and i can mount a trailer thing on the back for my kid until he's old enough to ride lol

    Yeah.
LOL, I'm with you there. I still like going fast, but I try to keep it mostly under control and just enjoy the ride. The price of failure continues to rise.

Thank you for the input. I know this may be tough to answer, but how much better is the new geometry on a 29? Is it worth it? This will be my first mountain bike and I will be using it to get into shape on fourwheeler trails behind my house. Hills, jumps and descents is what I will be riding. The problem that I am having is that I live in a small town with no bike shops close to me, so i can't demo a bike i am interested in and I will be dropping 3 to 3.5k and I want to enjoy it. I'm currently looking at used Hightower's standard travel or a new yt Jeffsy or used yeti 5.5. I haven't seen or ridden any of them, just going from reviews. Would love to know if the steep seat tube angle, slack headtube angle and shorter chain stays make that much of a difference. Sorry for the long winded post.

No worries! steep seat tube angles make a bigger impact if you are taller. I am on the short side of things so dont notice the slacker seat tube angle. You can upfork for pretty cheap (50 bucks for air shaft) which will slacken the heat tube angle. I am running a 160 fork and my bike has about a 65.9% headtube angle.

Depending on where you ride a slack head tube angle does not mean better, it will take away from the playfulness of the bike. Where do you live ? I love the 29er wheels for my terrain (Nevada / Tahoe). I take my bike to lift serviced terrain about 10 times a year. If I were primary focused on jumps / lift serviced stuff Id 100% go 27.5.

Check out the Fezzari la sal peak. Its a sick bike with newer geo than the HT for pretty cheap compared to competitors. Commencal Meta AM 29 is also another one to take a look at.

POW RIGHT IN THE PEEPEE! haha.

man I know crashes hurt, and I'm sure the gopro effect is in this, but your picture earlier vs this video it looks like you had a bad luck crash for the stuff that happened to have happened. like the video doesn't make it seem like the front wheel should have taco'd at all!
