Yes if you buy a rebuilt parts store caliper, chances are its A1 Cardone.

On rebuild or reman stuff it's enough of a crap shoot as it is even with Toyota stuff. I'd be hesitant unless it's some domestic rebuild company with a good track record of quality rebuilt Toyota axles
Lots of crappy rebuild stuff gets moved through parts stores, but if someone runs into good quality reman stuff, we definitely need to know about it.

Of all the crappy parts store axles I've bought, most look a lot like the Cardones even if they're labelled otherwise. But some of them (Duralast brand comes to mind) looks completely different...different shaped ends and what not. So I dunno if they're the same or not. I wouldn't be surprised if they are. In my experience it's the shitty quality of the boot material they use that makes them inferior. Tears if you accidentally grab onto it wrong when installing it. Though I'm sure they also won't hold up to as much lift angle as OEM will either.

Moving? Into the city of Salinas (since I live outside the city, near Chualar).

Going on the 16th? To some part of Southern CA to meet up with @GHOST SHIP and possibly @eon_blue

He's got some custom sliders made up for me; pics will come as it's mandatory on TW.

Even with the best there are parts it's still unreliable and the rotary needs rebuilding every 90K. It's a great sounding engine though.

after doing some math it seems like a win to just get my thirds from ECGS because the cost is only $800 more than the cost of parts alone if I was to DIY

not to mention the time saved by not having to set up my own gears

I had an FD so 13B motor; after tuning and going single turbo, that SOB still only got about 12mpg.

I was religious about warming up, and always had my turbo timer set at about 2mins.

The FD is still one of the best looking cars of all time. I wouldn't mind one with an LS in it.

@Reh5108 I forget, what are the manual CVs smaller? the actual shaft? the splined hub end?

They're slightly weaker than the ADD axles, I believe in overall diameter. They're also shorter than the ADD equivalent.

Sounds like I could have an ADD CV resplined to work with manual hubs if I really start having issues
