What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Wow I hope to make a trip like that someday. I have a lot of work on my truck to prepare for something like that.

btw, what did you spray your sliders with and what do you use to touch them up?

 

You're sellin yourself short man... Those welds look fine. Especially for being crunched up under the truck with sparks falling on you and burning through your clothes lol.

My mounts are basically the same as what you did, except we plug welded all the bolt holes on the bases.

Edit... looks like you plug welded yours too (was looking at the bottom pic, must have been before you plugged them)

I sprayed the main part of my sliders with Duplicolor Acrylic Enamel over self etching primer... Did my bumpers with it too. Seems to be holding up well.

I sprayed the bases and plates of my sliders (and the frame) with Duplicolor rocker panel coating... also seems to be doing well so far.

When it rains, it pours! Rear Axle Seals - This Time on the Tacoma

I sprayed on the duplicolor bedliner after two coats of auto primer and it chipped off in a few areas from just my jackstant supporting them when welding them on. Not impressed.
Just another maintenance item to add to the list I guess. I knew it was gonna come off from sliding on rocks, but not that easily . maybe I should have put more final coats on.

Thanks for the compliment. Always room for improvement though. Might have had better results with 0.35 wire instead of 0.30, but i'm content with how they came out.

I only plug welded a few of them because I wasn't really sure if I was able to get it hot enough to melt to the frame side before filling it with material. Might go back through and plug weld them or just fill them with silicone to seal it up before I paint it.

 

wait...your running a stock fuel pump?? Wtf?

 

Mmmmm yea, the last 605,000 miles it’s always had a stock fuel pump,
Never had an issues with the stock pump

 

wow. I'd think you'd want something that could keep up better with the larger injectors. But whatever haha

Right on!!! I was just wanting to see how the plates look, if they were flat or L shaped. I am about to install mine, i just finished welding on the mounting brackets which are L shaped from Trail Gear. I'm having issues lining them up so I am just gonna cut off the bottom L part and weld it up like yours. Thanks!

Gotcha. Those sliders look identical to the 4x ones! Are you gonna add gussets to the top part of the tube and plate?

Also, is that a watercooled TIG I spy in the corner?

 

Have you done a Dyno test yet to see your rear wheel hp and torque numbers and curve?
I would love to see yours as a comparison with what I have to compare the methanol with the 7th injection as we both have the grey supercharger

 

Who has done under hood lighting and what did you use?

 

this. I can't stand not having a light under my hood and it looks super easy to do.

 

I passed smog! Whelp on to the next thing, cleaning up the frame and coating it.

 

Nope I have not. I don't think there is a Dyno anywhere near me. Probably Denver haha

I'll want to find one once the turbo goes in my SX though. Will want to know what it's making.
