    NEVAAA!!! lol

I actually wonder if its a geometry thing. Perhaps it is slightly different. I know that sounds weird but look at all the shit on the truck that isn't symmetrical from the factory.

Hell the bumpers aren't even square.

Never. Nope, doesn't happen. I have no idea what you're talking about. Don't let Monte and Mike fill you with stories of the last hour in Colorado. It was completely uneventful for me. Easy peasy. Truck definitely didn't almost end up on its side. Nope, it didn't.

Yes. New buckets for both sides have been ordered.

I will be very curious to see how much detail of that last hour actually makes it into the TW storytelling.

Enough. This link will work for 12 minutes. Then you have to wait for it to be posted.

I should have known. What was I thinking.

When Brett showed what was happening to his coil buckets earlier this year, I did an inspection of mine looking for signs, but there were none. I did another inspection prior to our Whipsaw trip , still no indications that I noted though I will say these inspections were not nearly as thorough as the postmortem ones so I may have missed something. :notsure:

I am sure this is a factor. I am convinced that my kings are on the short side even though they are kings version of extended. The addition of the white line bushings also extended significantly the amount of available droop. For example, removing the COs allows my LCAs to drop an additional 1.5".

I mean I wouldn't be surprised if they were different. Even slightly so. But probably won't ever know as we need a perfect frame to compare to.

Im not sure bottoming out is likely. Over extension yes though.

measured from where? The shock tab or the wheel hub? Because un doing my lower bolt only lets it go like 1/4'' more down at the shock bolt. And I can't go any lower anyways as the spindle hits the coil at that point. Which has happened on the trail as the coils are nicked.

Granted, I don't have aftermarket UCA's but I don't see how Id gain any more droop from them since the spindle is smacking the coilover anyways.

I can't keep up with you guys in my own thread!

I do believe I described in detail the 2nd gen I would build if I were to start over.

No turd gen for me, not sold on the 3.5L at all.

Out of context your statement makes sense, but given his situation, I still don't understand your reasoning. I see no negatives to coil bucket gussets aside from the difficulty to install (way less of an issue in his case), and the bushing/greasing issue I previously mentioned. They may not have prevented his issue, but they certainly aren't making the coil bucket any weaker. IMO, they'll help prevent cracks by reducing flex in the entire coilbucket. So it's the right thing to do because it's strengthening a week part, not just because it's easy.

That being said, after seeing his, I'm going one step further and will be making a coilbucket crossbrace.

I'm fairly certain that the way the aftermarket UCA's are designed you would gain slightly more clearance from the coils. Otherwise I don't think anybody would recommend upgrading to aftermarket UCAs with extended coilovers if hitting the coils would be the limiting factor as opposed to bottoming out the upper ball joint.

Try to spin your CV at that point. Guaranteed it would be binding if you actually have that much droop.

I think that measurement means absolutely nothing in the coilbucket equation though. You had the same travel before and after the bushings.

    Your so popular!

Ditto. the 4.0 is a great motor.

You'd think that...but The UCA isn't what is hitting. Its the actual top of the spindle. I don't see how an aftermarket UCA will help with that unless it is pushing the spindle further away which would affect my camber a lot.

    wow. That is short.

Interesting. Did it do this before the aftermarket LCAs as well? Maybe aftermarket UCA requirement was always a lie.:tinfoilhat:

Or maybe something is just tweaked on your truck... Haha

I am sure you are correct about binding. But it never gets there anyway as the shock extension is limiting it. That was the point. The shock is yanking on the coil bucket when it reaches full extension. This why limit straps will be part of the solution going forward.

Do any of you ADS guys have hard data on the extended length of your COs?.

I'll measure it, but not sure why it matters. Unless someone is silly enough to run stock UCAs with extended coilovers (whereas the UBJ would be the limiting factor), everyone with coilovers is using them as the downtravel limit. Unless of course they have limit straps.
