I’m adding the dual 12v trim to my Tacoma and I have the harnesses with about 8” of wire, anyone ever tried this and where did you ground/power?

    photos?

Any help appreciated, if this is covered elsewhere just redirected me. Noob here

What does your truck have? You’d need to tap into an power source that’s constantly on in the key ACC position. (To function as stock, you can always have it constantly hot)

Look into that area closer. Maybe the harness is there. I don’t know if this was only a 1998+ feature.

Otherwise I’d use a relay with a constant got from the battery, ground, and a 12v ACC trigger. Just wire it straight to the battery if you don’t care about it working in ACC and above only.

Truck has one cig 12v. Thought about taping that or the subwoofer power wire. is running 3 power sources to the same power source too much?

I personally wouldn’t tap off the Cig lighter power. I would go directly to the battery as to not worry about overload. I don’t know if they’re spliced together on a stock truck. If they are, you’ll probably be okay.

Thought about running a second 10 gauge fused power wire off the battery like the subwoofer. Thinking I’ll go that way. Also need to power the maplight and my a pillar bolts are stripped so i can’t access the always hot black and white wire but I was able to fish the wire down to the fuse box

This is how it is on a 2000, the power outlets are on a separate fuse from the cig lighter. I'd check if the PWR OUTLET fuse exists already.

Bought this for my 96 but hey, It doesn’t fit at all! What am I missing? I can’t quite understand this redesign. Every other 95-04 dash part fits right up

Can you post a pic of the place you're trying to fit it? We can compare it to a newer one.

The OEM 12v port are wired together.
I have installed a double 2.1amp USB port and a cig lighter power port, both marine grade- Blue Sea type. I am now in the process of wiring them direct from a sub fuse panel Blue Sea 100 amp. Mounted over behind the cruise control.
