Mud tires are not generally good in ice, but if you can find a shop that sipes tires, have them sipe all of the inner blocks, leaving the outer blocks unsiped. This will vastly improve the performance of a mud tire on ice and other low traction surfaces. I'l bet I have driven 50,000 miles on ice, and this has proven to be a good alternative.

I can vouch for these. Ran these in a 265/75/16, and they were great tires. Likely i'll be going back to them on my next set after my coopers wear down

You say you “just want a rugged look”, so you want these for some kind of look and not functionality. Unless you spend a lot of time off road and/or in mud, mud tires are a poor choice. Yeh they will look aggressive and “cool” but there are are some negatives. They will be noisy. Some AT’s are noisy but mudders are louder. Traction on the highway is not as good as AT’s or passenger tires. They wear faster than other tires. Often they come with reduced mileage warranties or no mileage warranty at all. If you just want the tires for the look get yourself some mudders and deal with the consequences. However you can get some great AT’s that look super aggressive, perform great off road, perform great on the highway, aren’t as noisy as mudders and have 50000 or 60000 mile mileage warranties.

I've got 24,500 on them so far. Put 80,000 on a set on a 89 toy. But they were surely wore out.

    And they're only like $167.00 a tire.

I've got Milestar Patagonia's. Dirt cheap, and the on road performance really isn't bad at all. There's some noise, but nothing deafening.

Sounds like what you actually want, is a hybrid tire though. Something like a nitto ridge grappler.

Goodyear wrangler ultraterrain, reasonably priced, they have that “aggressive”look without all the draw backs of mudder tires. I just put them on my 05 so far I like them. Gotta get them at a discount tire or America’s tire though.

Duratracs are the closest thing to a mudder, that isn't giant knobs that howl on the highway.

Michelin Latitude Tours on 17 inch FJ Rims - Nice balance as a daily driver & going off road. Grips in all conditions, quiet at all speeds & improves gas mileage. I love the fact they are great in rain and also be able to do some off road with no issues. No, probably not good for boulder-trail riding, but I have done everything from beaches (loose sand) to muddy woods with have no fear of getting stuck.

You guys are awesome with the input. Probably should search for what I'm about to ask but since we're here talking about tires. I have no lift, are spacers recommend to push the tires out a bit more?

I had Pepboys Futura scramblers on my 92 Suzuki sidekick and I parked it in 12 inches of snow in the middle of an unplowed parking lot to help someone stuck in the snow. I started the Suzuki up put it in first gear and it was like there was no snow at all so I will try them on my 2007 Tacoma because they worked so well on a small light truck and got to work just as well on a light Tacoma. And they cheap too and aggressive. https://www.pepboys.com/futura-scrambler-ap/tires/555074?quantity=4
