I don't know. Don't think so the stock LCA bushings REALLY don't flex.

I am. I've been running extended travel with stock UCAs for years.

As I said though, I don't seem to have any gain by switching since the spindle hits the coils.

 

Mike, I might have some measurements of my Kings from when I did my front end reinforcement. Let me dig around and see if I can find them. They would only be the extended lengths, though, but I think that’s what you’re looking for, right?

Maybe. It never pays to assume.

 

I think most shock makers would spend much more effort on check that they didn't bottom out. Where as extension they don't care as much other than they would like to allow as much as possible with what they can fit in the compressed area.

Obviously, I have no real idea how they go about making shocks. But its not much different mind set from what we do when fitting a custom shock. fit the longest thing you can without bottoming out.

 

BS. They move the top of the spindle out and back, and just simply take up less space, so will give you more clearance at the coil.

If I pull the lower shock bolt, my LCA droops until the CV is completely bound up, and I still have clearance at the coil.

Doesn't quite work like that for front shocks. They need to make up the space, which is actually longer than would be required for the 5.5" stroke or whatever they have. That's why there's internal spacers.

 

Going fast becomes exponentially expensive because it's a deep dark rabbit hole of wanting to go faster and faster lol.

Rock crawling is for the knuckle draggers like me that plug up the access roads going 10mph because solid axles and leafs will beat you do death and we can't afford to fix our junk.

 

So it does effect the camber? I was always under the impression they only did castor.

Of course I have planned on getting new ones. Just wasn't a priority. Still isn't really in the grand scheme of things right now.

They are called droop spacers. OEM shocks generally travel 4.8-5.8" total depending on application and you can reuse a lot of the same parts between makes/models ET/NonET by adding an internal aluminum droop spacer.
