Here's the thing about "real men"
They are generally the biggest "sissies". You'll learn this as you age, one hopes.

Real "real men" don't call themselves "real men" either. And they don't need to drive big "manly" trucks. And they can wear pink shirts and drive minivans, and sip Rosé.

Real men don't flex nuts cuz they got 'em

These post kind of crack me up. I would like to know what some of you really think the definition of a so called real truck is. I drove a ridgeline for over 10 years and now my son drives it. I drove it through snow, mud, fields hunting, through hall roads in woods hunting, I hauled in it, pulled my trailer with a ton and a half of rock, pulled my gator 835. I don't about you but that sounds like a truck to me. Now back to the looks of the new Ridgeline, I don't particularly like the looks of it so I chose the Tacoma. I think the Tacoma is a better looking truck but not a better truck and yes I think the Ridgeline is a truck. Now if this hurts feelings or steps on toes the bashing can begin but this comes from some one who has actually owned and driven both and found pros and cons on both. Just my 2 cents,

I mean I feel like a unique vintage bike like a BMW airhead will be way on the steep end of things, especially compared to a 300cc Honda or Yamaha or whatever starter bike. A buddy who’s been trying to sell me on bikes has a Honda VFR800, so a Honda but a more unique one, has told me what he pays for parts and everything is pennies compared with what I’m used to for cars. Plus he made a great point to me on maintenance, yeah they need it much more often but everything’s way less of a procedure compared to a car, nothing’s buried under all kinds of other crap you need to take apart first and everything is easy to handle. Like even if you pull the engine, you can just pick it up and carry it go where you need to work on it. Plus there’s just way less going on to break.

Well, I'm not going to break out the measuring ribbon and compare testicular circumference with you today (maybe tomorrow ;))

Still, I would venture a guess that this forearm coming out of my pinkish/purple shirt is very likely bigger than one of your calves.

Well, the Tacoma is just a midsize pickup. I love mine, but it isn't the be all end all of trucks either.

I hate to say it, but I had a Ranger driving behind me for awhile--white with black accents--and it didn't look bad at all.

Some Ridgelines in certain colors with certain accents don't look horrible either. Sometimes I'm surprised when I see one and don't cringe in disgust.

The Taco looks best of all the midsizes of course.

I fully agree for 80% of the midsize market the Ridgeline will fit their needs and more. With more refinement and drivability and better gas mileage than the Tacoma.

However...it isn't a real truck, in the sense that a CRV isn't a real SUV. The lack of a manual transmission and the lower towing capacity made it not a consideration for me. That and the weird styling. I think a couple of minor tweaks would make it much more presentable and truck-like, at least appearance-wise.

I have repeatedly seen that argument throughout this thread about a Ridgeline meeting a certain percentage of needs, a freaking Kia Rio probably does too but no one in their right mind would ever consider one over a Tacoma. Checking Fuelly real world MPG figures between a Tacoma and a Ridgeline shows they are getting about the same, they also both have about the same HP and Torque figures. The Ridgeline seems to have a higher price tag along with absolutely appalling styling so its no wonder the Tacoma dwarfs the Ridgeline in sales.

It's the looks that are a turn off for me.

But if you look at the TFL truck test of the Ridgeline, you'll see the transmission overheated on an absolutely pitifully basic trail. If it had more offroad chops, I might consider it. Right now it's just a disgrace to even the 1st gen ridgelines.
