Northern Timber rattlers and Copperheads here.
The Copperheads are common and easy to find, the rattlesnakes less so.

I lived in Florida for a good many years before getting married.
There's no comparison between Cane Cutters (Southern Timber Rattlers) and Eastern Diamondbacks versus Northern Timber Rattlers.
The latter are a lot less touchy.
Perhaps because you gotta go deep in the woods near rockfalls (denning areas) to find them and it can be quite cool, even in mid summer.
It will give you a rather quiet rattle if you're getting a bit close, and increase the volume if you don't get the hint.

Copperheads I see often and have stepped on them a few times.
They're not gentlemanly at all. No warnings from them.
For some reason they didn't try to bite, but I had heavy boots on anyway.
And I used to be able to jump pretty quick.
No rattle of course, and they stay still, relying on their camouflage.
They're very hard to spot in dead leaves.

From time to time, I've heard guys say they saw a Water Moccasin.
I'm very doubtful about that. Too far north here.
Probably what they saw were big bodied water snakes.
Which are very hissy and belligerent. :p
    Water snakes are pretty variable.

You have a lot of company...

On the bright side, I had lots of time off between frantic bursts of work (subcontracting trimwork).
And it's satisfying working with one's hands.
Did a lot of hunting. :)

Falling asleep on the couch at 8 pm is a blessing and a curse.

4 am wake ups are just a curse.

    Morning all! :hattip:

I dunno, they're pretty fuckin big in Illinois.
I hitchhiked across country when I was 19 and me and my buddy got dumped at night in Illinois just across the border from Indiana.
We were tired, so we camped out right by I 70.

    One skeeter says to another:
Should we eat 'em here? Or take 'em back in the woods for later?
Nah, the big fellers will steal them from us.

    Mornin' everybody. :playball:

Here's a musing for your Wednesday morning:

The most miserable task one faces when detailing their Taco, is cleaning the inside of the windshield.

Yeah. Me either. I already have coolant and diesel fuel on me. It’s 7 am. Way to early to stink like diesel.
