Yes, I want violence. And I have it. It sits, waiting, on a kart stand out in my shop. When driven hard and on the edge it's as close as any of us will ever get to driving a F1 car in anger, true violence and terror every second, a death at your door experience far beyond what Porsche and Ferrari can supply without spending over a million. That hypercar above is sex. This is beyond sex:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjSuzzorTXQ Racing that harkens back to a time when sex was safe and racing was dangerous. If you'll notice, no hay bales to pad your impact. Lap times in the 1.29:xx range. In a 125cc shifterkart. THIS is the violence to which I refer. On your best day your C8 won't go through those esses within 20mph of that kart.
BEST Lap times, same circuit, but in hypercars/supercars like pictured above: https://fastestlaps.com/tracks/cadwell-park-full-circuit Nothing under 1.37. Even Sabine Schmitz in a race-prepped M6 could only manage a 1.42. So a $10,000 kart is quicker than all of these. That car pictured above too. By about 8 seconds a lap. Violence. Real terror. A little more terror than what passes as "racing" on those pedestrian gentleman's track days in a well-prepped daily driver, huh? What you are watching is what motivated F1 World Champion Ayrton Senna to once state, "Karting is the purest form of racing".

Okay, below, definitive proof of a kart's supremacy, and why F1 drivers practice in them so much:

Pause this vid at 2:08: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psBiKR10JgE This is a full race Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car. About as bad a Porsche as the public can buy.

Pause this vid at 8:32: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXHXvcKXynY

Resume the Porsche vid, then quickly resume the kart vid above. Watch the kart overtake and quickly walk away from the Porsche. This is the same Porsche GT3 that is raced at the 24 Hours of Daytona and the 24 Hours of Lemans. And a 125cc shifterkart dominates it. The Porsche only dominates in straight line speed on the straights. Everywhere else the kart dominates the Porsche. (More fun to drive too!)

Karts. Why my vehicular violence metric is as it is.

Some of the posts in this thread are amusing. They read like the old men on the Corvette forum who seem compelled to justify the relevance (of which there is no need to) of their C5/6/7 by blasting the C8. I just don't understand their insecurity. Happens with every vehicle when a new model is introduced. Happened with Tacos.

Mid-engine Corvettes have been proposed since the early-60's. It's finally happened, just like the inevitable switch to a DCT. Progress is hard for some people to accept, seemingly because their current vehicle is rendered "obsolete" - which it isn't.

I expect (as assumingly so does GM) that the move to ME will bring the demographic age down. Keep in mind that one thing that skews the demographic age is the price - not a lot of sub-40 year-olds with the discretionary income to spend $75K+ on a car while raising a family, and the volume of Corvettes sold as compared to Porsches, McLarens, etc. I know I couldn't.

We'll have to agree to disagree on this Cotton.

Let me go out on a limb and make a few predictions:
    1. C8 over the same six year run of the C7 (2014 - 2019) will outsell the C7; and
    2. the age demographic will go down several points.
Only time will tell. Have to get the UAW and GM back on the same page first.

I still plan on ordering one in 2022/2023. I really want to see what the Z06 will be like.

Indeed. A lot of immaturity in this thread. Cursing, name calling, puts the insecurity out on display.

We live in a very easily “triggered” society, gentlemen. Watch your six.

Now I agree. Weather it’s lame or lives up to the hype is yet to be seen. But even if it’s spectacular I still agree with your other two points. I didn’t bust my ass to have something I see so many of everywhere I go. To to people I just triggered - I’m not knocking the cars’ performance, and I think they’re cool looking cars, just to common.

do you buy things because of their performance / what it offers to you, or do you buy things because of other people?

ironically, the Tacoma is the best selling midsize which also makes it the most common...

I buy performance vehicles that have low production numbers. My Ducati is one of only 200. My custom chopper is a one off build and my viper is a fairly rare vehicle. I don’t care much what my daily driver is. I bought the taco because Toyota’s are reliable and I like having a pick up to haul things.

He just said he only buys things because of other people. I on the other hand buy things because of there performance. I don’t care one bit how many are on the road. I am not trying to impress other people, I just want the most for my money.

It’s his money I don’t care at all what he does with it.

Got you. Nothing wrong with buying your performance vehicles based on others purchases (rarity). We all have our own way.

I hear you. I look for a bit of both myself, but more heavily lean on performance per dollar.

And there is nothing wrong with buying vehicles because of there rarity and to collect. If I had the money I would do the same but then I would end up driving the piss out of them and they would lose all there value :rofl::rofl:
