So I did a front brake job recently (rotors and pads) and the brakes work great, however exclusively at low speed it will squeal very loudly. I’m wondering if anyone knows what would cause this.

First thing would be brand new brakes and rotors, lol.
If you didn't spray them down with brake cleaner, it will do that.
Also, since the brakes and rotors haven't seated to each other yet, they will make a lot of noise. It should go away in a little bit.
One other factor could be the material of the brakes you bought, like semi-metallic vs ceramic.

Did you do a break in run? Usually they say to brake pretty hard from 60 to 10 mph a few times to bed them properly. Just make sure you don't completely stop because you can imprint the hot rotors with the pad material. I don't know if it made any difference for me though because I did that as soon as mine were on.

So I’ve had them on for about a month now, ~1500kms and it’s still doing it. They are semi metallic, but I’ve never heard brakes squeal this loud and only at low speed. If I vary the pressure it’s almost like I’m playing an instrument lol

So I have done that when I first got it but it’s still doing it like crazy. I even get weird looks it’s so loud lol

I can’t remember off the top of my head, I just went down to the local parts store and picked some up

Huh, that's odd then. I can't say for sure then. Might have to take it apart and take a look. Hopefully one of your pads didn't slip off or anything.

that could be it, I would wait to see if it will settle down, you could always change out the pads back to oem set and leave in the rotors

Is it possible I didn’t add enough grease to the metal backing of the pad? Maybe I’ll slap on the old set just to see if it’s the pads or the rotors that’s making the noise

Did you clean and lubricate the caliper pins and all of the points where the pad slides in the caliper? Noise is caused by vibration and proper lubrication with a caliper grease prevents the vibrations. I did a pad change last year without new rotors and they have been noise free.

That shouldn't be the case. In my old 05 Sequoia I never greased the back of the pads and never had any noise. Good idea to slap on the old set just to check it out.

I have also never done that on the 05 Sequoia with no issues. Maybe I was lucky.

I’ve done a few pad changes on some vehicles without the lube with no problems. I just like to be proactive. I’m in my 50s now and I don’t want to do it twice. Although I must admit, the Tacoma brake pad swap is pretty damn easy!

You got that right man. I'll probably start adding lube when I do the brakes on the truck, just in case.

I put a dab of grease on the back of the pads, I didn’t lube the entirety of the contact points. It’s really strange cause for the first few stops in the morning it’s quiet, then after it heats up it gets super loud

Sounds to me like a brake pad material thing.

Could be. That happened to me years ago on a Corolla. I tried a different brand and the noise went away.

Some cheap pads have NO anti vibration pad on the caliper side and have to use the Permatex blue quiet stuff on them.
As stated above you have to pull the pins out with the rubber boot and grease them with high temp disc brake grease so they slide.
Another area to look at is the pad contact area on the caliper and ensure its clean and can actually slide on the caliper side (you can grease the metal contact points. I have seen rust/dirt hang them up there before. Also under the metal insets the pads fit into make sure you clean that out to so the pads are not jammed in and make sure they slide. This all assumes your calipers are still good - hope when you pushed the pistons back in you cleaned the crap off the pucks first so you did not mess the seals up. Finally did you torque the wheels lug nuts when reinstalling so as not to warp the rotors.
