Honestly I think I'm gonna go with a rubberized under coating for this year then just keep topping it off with fluid film. I like the idea of how the rubber coating will be thick and offer some strong protection and how the fluid film creates a non permanent barrier on top of that. Might be overkill but I need to do some work on this old girl's frame, it's a 1995.5 after all.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
Sort of ironically the backside of a normal eating spoon works pretty well

Pro grade rubberized coating is good. Thats what our wheel wells and a good chunk of the bottom of the cab is covered with.

    Rattle can stuff....not so good.

i think the undercoat i have was to protect against gravel / rock chips on the frame which would lead to exposed metal and then to rust of course with the naked metal
back in 1997 nobody had ever heard of the problems these trucks would have in the future in certain areas of the USA :oldglory:

    where are you located?

this is what 22 years of rubberized on a brand new frame did, even with frequent hand spraying off slop during the winter
worst spot i have found by the cat
this should clean up really well with aluminum oxide blasting be good as good can get
protect it with afterblast zinc phosphoric acid, eastwood extreme chassis black primer and hopefully can get a coat of extreme chassis gloss before the rain tomorrow and snow on Friday, need the right temp to apply paint the directions said

drain hole crust by the Cat.jpg
    does this look infected?
its wet because i had just power hosed the inside out with some water

the area close to this, near the front pass. tire, never had undercoat of any kind, just normal hosing down, and looks splendid after wiping some dirt off of it

That's a damn good looking rear bumper! Especially for providing plated protection, it doesn't look overly bulky or clunky. Custom or who's the maker?

That was an old project. That was this project:

[IMG]Shock relocation by Michael Halat, on Flickr
[IMG]Shock relocation by Michael Halat, on Flickr

That was boxing the frame (further than where the TG kit goes) raising the gas tank 2", throwing in 2 new crossmembers, shock relocation, u bolt flip, new shackles, and AAL. Though I learned shortly after that Dakars w/ AAL is shit.

Honestly it might happen one day. My buddies told me I should just flat bed it while I had it off too.

You don't count, you live in the south. :p
