Is this a paid version of Gaia gps?
I can't change the topo without the paid version.

Anyway, I can't wrap my head around this map. If what you are showing is a "Y" IN THE road and turning left leads you to anger hole.

There is no "Y" there, it's a "T". And just to the left a little ways is a bear camp on the left. I think 2. I posted a pic in the MG thread a while back. I'll see if I can find it.

Anyway, there is a gate just beyond the camp. I took Caleb there on Sat just to see if the gate was open. It looked like there was a fairly large camper sitting right where the gate was and some guy waved at us.
We turned around at the camp and continued over to the right side of the "T".

I even mentioned something to Caleb about the fact that I've never seen that gate open and it looks like people were sitting right on it blocking it.

Meanwhile, my Gaia gps doesn't look anything like yours. I started recording about the time that you could see the lake near the trailhead. So I'm totally confused what's going on.

    Shit, nevermind.
I think I get the map now.
Where your blue dot is at the "Y", when you go left there, there is a gate just up and over the top of the hill correct?

I got stuck up there because the gate was closed and there was absolutely no place to turn around. I had to back all the way back down to the "Y".

From there, going to the right side of the "Y", takes you to the "T" with camp 2 on the left side. There is a gate at camp 2. That's what I thought you were calling auger hole and the way to get there.

At that gate at camp 2 is where Caleb and I turned around (the pic with my truck) and continued on to camp 3 and 4.

I was looking at the map completely wrong because I didn't recognize the "Y" because that gate has always been closed in the several years I've been in mustergrounds.

We're going to need atleast 1 person with a winch. Fully locked Rubicons had to be winched out of that patch last week.

I've got a winch on the prerunner, but no winch on the Rubicon. I don't think my prerunner would even make it there unless it was bone dry for a solid week.

We can go have a look at it, but that's a place I would rather not have to call someone to come get us out.

    Do you have a winch?

I do not have a winch. I've got a strap and some traction boards. I've never used the traction boards. That patch does look sticky from the pics.

I believe @truckbeans has a winch if he is available to go

You got it! That gate is the one at the NC/SC border and from what I've heard is always closed. The day I went, and what I assume is still the case, is the side the gate would close into and lock has fallen off the mountain.

    I'm using Backcountry Navigator Pro.

Yessir! Winch and plenty of line, shackles, and blocks. I'm able to go Saturday. Best for me if we can meet up semi-earlyish. Mid morning or something.

Not sure yet. @Glasskenny @Matic You guy's up for a mid-morning meetup? Everyone's welcome. Anyone have a preference for where to start (Musterground vs Chestnut?)

The place where that Y splits off and the left goes to the gate has a big old oak tree in the middle of it. I also got stuck at the gate and had to back out of it. Nerves were a bit frazzled at the end. It was tight!

I think it would be far easier to go in on the Musterground/SC side than coming down from the NC side.

Doubtful I can make it this coming weekend, and my winch is not wired up anyway. :( My lazy ass needs to get on that.

MGR. Same one I posted with the white background. For some reason the topography just showed up.

Nice, I'm down for starting on the musterground side. What is everyone thinking for a meet point and time? I will be making the drive in from Charlotte that saturday morning but I believe I could be there around 10:30

For you, it would probably just be easy to come down to greenville, then Easley and meet me here.
