I was told that I needed it for the backup camera, I didn't even notice the JBL amp part. I'll have to contact them. Did your unit come with the wiring harness that you needed?

    Also, thanks for the heads-up.

Mine did not but I ordered the wrong harness. He told me it should be fine but later chatting with them said I needed a different harness with the canbus (its only $30 on aliexpress) but if we caught it then they would have shipped that with the order (they charge you $30 more) waiting on the canbus to arrive which takes forever. They ship the HU really fast. I got it in under 2 weeks.

Seems they made this fit 05-11 tacomas then with newer 2nd gen and 3rd gen they swapped a few things.

Curious what harness they send you with the radio compared to the second one you ordered. Either way its a nice setup so far. A bit glitchy at times but digging it so far.

I think we're trying to do similar things so I've been watching this thread closely. I've got a 2017 TRD Sport w/ the JBL audio system and would like to install a Dasaita MAX6. I want to keep the functionality of the steering wheel controls, use of OEM GPS, and use of OEM rear camera. Additionally, I want to gain wireless CarPlay. It's unlikely I'll be using the hot spot feature and I never use satellite radio. How were you able to get such low prices on Ebay? I gave them offers on the same items and they weren't as generous on the counter offers.

I don’t have the jbl audio system and don’t particularly care for wireless CarPlay, but yes I think I am trying to accomplish the same thing otherwise.

I don’t know that I did anything special with my offer, except to perhaps mention the three items that I planned to purchase in the two offers that I did make.

I do not have the JBL but that is the CanBus dependent unit.

    *I did purchase a Max6.
*Wireless carplay is $30 add on so I added it. Its nice to have one less wire although does not connect as fast as a wired carplay. The new IOS13 carplay is nice.
*With the Canbus you should retain steering controls and rear camera (without it you can program most of the controls via the HU anyway). I did not get the right harness and only am missing 2 features (return and enter) but aside from that you can program the 1 tap and hold tap of each button to anything you want so you actually get more control.
*OEM GPS you will need to buy an adapter. Should be noted in the products discussed below.
*there is an adapter to retain your factory USB location but also has up to 3 you can add to the HU
*You say that now on the HotSpot but its a nice feature. You can always run it tethered off your phone but came in clutch to catch the end of the games this weekend. I am thinking about a more permanent hotspot for the car so its always there if needed. You can add pretty much any app to the HU such as Gaia, GPS, OBD readers (em 237 8nits for android are cheap and easy) or any app you can think of. Def a nice feature to have.

If you get the right harness its 98% plug and play.

That's great information. Thanks for sharing. It wasn't clear to me that the additional built-in CarPlay chip provided a wireless CarPlay connection. Can you confirm this? If so, it would eliminate the need for the USB Carlinkit dongle. Did you get it on Ebay or Aliexpress?

I bought mine on aliexpress but I think they are all the same just diff sources. You buy the added and its supposed to add wireless. But yes I paid $30 more and have wireless carplay. Does not connect as fast but works great when it does.

Can you post a link for this adapter? I apologize if this has already been done somewhere.

Has anyone tried or thought to try a 4g LTE modem connected via USB? I think this is what I may do instead of a hotspot and was looking for feedback.

Holy crap! Nevermind. Verizon wants $150 a month for an unlimited data only plan. I'll have to see if anyone else offers a mobile modem.

Can anyone give me some info about connecting the factory USB port to the unit? I haven’t ordered a dongle because I don’t believe that I’ll need one with the upgraded chip. Do I need to purchase an adapter of sort to run from the stereo to the usb?

If you want to retain the USB port on the dash you need this adapter.

Hey guys, I have mine and all the supporting stuff I was waiting for. Would it be beneficial if I made a crappy YouTube video of the installation? It would be for the non-JBL version. I'm not quite sure when I'll get to it because life...but I'll post a link here if folks want.

Groovy. I want to try and get to it this weekend, but there's variables. If not, maybe next weekend. Stand by to stand by.

I got the USB cable with my PX6. The discountcarstereo cable was great for connecting to factory GPS antenna.

Loving the system. Wifi *usually* connects automatically within 30 seconds for hotspot, but sometimes I have to make the HU connect by going to the wifi page that lists them and it will then realize it's being lazy.

I need to figure out how best to set the EQ now.
