    there's not that much you can mod on a bike though, without just buying a new bike lol. it's also cheaper to mod a bike.

    yes you can upgrade that stuff, but depending on the bike you buy it most likely won't be needed. all of that stuff even top of the line can be done for less than $500 too.

    you don't do anything to a bike till after you've ridden it a while, that's how you learn what you need.

    you don't just buy what all the best bikers have, because all bikes serve very very very different purposes.

    Yes i know thats why im renting bikes first. I have tested out the marlins on pavement at the bike shop and like them but havent tested out some cheaper bikes yet. From what ive read Marlin is a good entry level true mountain bike.
