huh I didn't know Red N Tacky came in a spray can, interesting

I go through the Dry Lubricant cans every few weeks lol. That stuff works great for just about everything but doesn't last very long.

I usually get gas in Union City, which crazy expensive for some reason. I try to get gas in SF because by some miracle it’s only $4.15.

You didn't replace your LBJ bolts when you replaced your LBJ's?

I've reused mine several times and never had a problem, you're OK. They aren't one time use bolts unless you damage one somehow.

I did get new ones when I put new LBJs in though. But if I had to get new ones every time I took my LBJ apart to do a CV axle or tie rods I'd have to buy those fuckers in bulk.

Oh man, I called that shit lol.

Yeah stupid convenient, and it spreads/expands once it's sprayed so you have to be careful not to spray too much.

It's just a waste of money to have all these extra cans.

Silicone could cause potential UTI my man. Gotta go water based.

Side note, that Prothane supergrease (ketchup packets) is super water resistant- more than anything else I've ever used. They'll be the perfect thing to use on your leaf spring bushings or other areas that are semi-exposed to the elements since they resist being washed away by rain and/or carwashing or otherwise "melting" away. Bring a few packets when you come by next week, we'll do your bushings then too.

That's why you don't use the front door after you've gone through the back door

I've got like 9 packets, so I'll bring them all just for the hell of it. Maybe Ryan can grab one or two so he gets pushed to replace those LCA bushings.

Each one of those cans could serve a different purpose. You should se my collection of lube. The Blaster Dry Lube with Teflon is great for Uniballs too BTW (since I saw you talking about UCAs and uniballs). Not sure if the liquid wrench dry stuff is the same but I'm sure it'll work. The white lithium and red n tacky could be mostly interchangeable for around the house stuff. I use white lithium for single use lubrication ( like the needle bearings in my tube notcher)- don't use it for any other type of bearings! Red N Tacky is a great general use grease, but tends to weep in hot applications, just an FYI if it'll be used anywhere visible or where aesthetics are a concern.

@Empty_Lord pointed out a possible reason my bolts failed was because I used Loctite. I know for a fact I torqued them to spec, he said the Loctite messes with torque readings and gives you an inaccurate measurement.

Read my post above. The Loctite is apparently why my bolts failed.

You're supposed to use blue thread locker on them or so I've always been told. Every torque sheet I've read with those numbers on them says to use it.

I can't imagine it would throw off a torque wrench enough to make them dangerously out of spec. My money is on one of them just plain ol' backing itself out over time. They have to be checked regularly unfortunately. Using a paint pen to mark them makes it easier than having to break out a torque wrench every time.

I use the blue stuff on mine every time I remove them and have never had an issue.

I’m just going off what Dan said. He said the new Toyota bolts come with pre-applied thread locker from the factory.

uhh mine sure didn't lol. Although I won't discount the theory, god knows Dan has more real life experience with this stuff than I do, I just think it's too hard to say for sure that's why they failed. People use blue thread locker on them all time. But it's possible
