I can't stand people younger then me. Id rather hang out at a nursing home then with kids under 35.

This statement is disrespectful. "When you're working after all of this when you should be on a beach or a golf course or picking up your grandkids for a playdate, that's what's annoying."

Lets see what this guys doing when hes 64 or 65 and has health conditions due to working for 30 plus years and needs health insurance and has earned it. Nobody on this earth is entitled to Anything.

This thread is a simulacra of the previous one that got canned. Stun’s tat is going to be drawn with a Bic or just superimposed by some Millennial’s Insta filter at this rate. Disappointed.

You know I’ve met a lot of millennials on the job. The vast majority were really nice kids but the one almost universal failing they shared was the inability to see that rewards took time to earn and that people who were in positions with perks didn’t always have those perks. That they had waited and struggled and worked hard for those perks over a period of time. They saw older guys getting the days off that they wanted, newer vehicles to drive, and cushier jobs and immediately thought it was unfair to them.

In all honesty it’s not even their fault. They were raised in the period of “participation trophy’s” where all you need to do is show up.

Performance, time in service, doesn't matter to them. Equality and “fairness” trumps all. Even if that someone has spent a lifetime earning what they have, all they see is someone who has something they don’t have and want...

All too true. What we spent years earning/working up to they want in 1 or 2 years or they quit and move to a new company. The fun thing is they actually get what they want though and most millennials leapfrog their coworkers...

Because in today's modern company keeping your mouth shut and working hard is seen as someone who is good a their job but lacks motivation to advance. It's sad but the whiny in your face want, want, want wears down weak managers. It's easier to promote the loudmouth than have to continue to listen to them.

DryFly, I respect you & almost all of your posts on this forum. I respect your point of view on this subject as well.
To clear the air, I am not entitled at all but I have (like many here) been working my ass off since I was 15 years old and I still work just as hard.
All I am saying is that I know a lot of people (mainly men) whom have more than made a great life for themselves & their children and could of easily retired a decade ago but continue to hold down valuable jobs.
I'm 40 and I expect to be out of touch and a little slower in 20 years and someone younger with more energy will need and want my position. I am just hoping that without many of the benefits like stock share, pensions and 401 matching that baby boomers enjoyed but then also phased out for corporate record profit margins for people my age, that I can afford to step aside & enjoy traveling & spending days with my grandchildren.

Cause those people that keep quiet are content with their average wage and lifestyle. The people that speak up and push to be promoted get what they want cause they actually go after it.

I....expected much much more productive conversation from this thread. Looks like most members really don't give a shit about what others think or how they post. Same people, same useless issue, same useless points to beat to death. Same old trash!

Jeremy, lest you think otherwise I respect you and like your posts as well. I was actually going to say the same thing, but this is one of those issues that I’ve had some history with. I could get into it but I honestly don’t have the time or energy. Let’s just say I’ve been there and speak with some experience.

I know how how frustrating it is to work hard and feel as though you are getting nowhere, but trust me when I tell you it is a feeling as old as time. As long as there have been new and old competing for the same positions. All I can say is what I’ve told other younger guys, don’t worry. Your time will come. And when it does there’ll be a younger guy clamoring up behind you wanting you to move out of the way... :D
