You just need better cages... having raced DirtyKanza 4 times and never lost a bottle; I'm sticking with my Lezyne Flow Cages on the Moots with a Revelate Mtn. Feedbag up on the bars for the bottle I'm drawing from. That combo has worked on every gravel and XC race I've done to date.

From DK200 this year at one of the more "chunky" B road descents and creek crossings. Lots of bottles ejected here and more than a few crashes with riders going full yard sale...

You crazy dirty kanza people! Haha have you ever gotten to do Leadville? That belt buckle makes me want to do it....as if i would even complete it fast enough to get one haha

you should check out the education first race team’s YouTube. They’ve made some cool videos on the dirty kanza and Leadville.

Lube your junk man... friction is the killer in anything pedal-based distance. For all you manly-men that just can't be bothered to comprehend putting something on your junk... take a damn shower and keep your shit clean... or deal with saddle sores. Keep wet wipes with your gear to clean your hands after application. It's not rocket science...

This is a good start... I typically wear whatever bibs I have with the best chamois either with/without shorts depending how hot it is outside. I like the bib liners from Pearl Izumi and TwinSix.

Chamois cream applied only for rides more than 2 hours.

I recently discovered that some of the low-cost shorts and chams from lightinthebox.com are the most comfortable shorts I've ever tried. Not even kidding.

I bought several pairs of these:
    https://www.lightinthebox.com/en/p/...bicycle-ridding-shorts-pant-wear_p984484.html

    and these:
    https://www.lightinthebox.com/en/p/...ex-red-green-bike-wear-stretchy_p6736609.html

I couldn't be happier, and my wallet appreciates it, as well. My older $100+ shorts are mostly gathering dust in a drawer now.

PS: For reference, my U.S. size 33 waist fits the XL shorts and L chamois at those links.

I run the same cages on mtb and gravel. Whiskey (mid grip strength) and never had a problem until Rebeccas. Those washboard ruts were horrrrribbbbbleeeee. But yea, a stronger cage "probably" would've helped.

i've been meaning to pick up a couple of these in titanium: http://www.kingcage.com/

been slumming it with aluminum cages they never last too long. also have a Lezyne Flow SL plastic cage that is just the worst, jettisons bottles going over the slightest bumps.

I guess ill be the only one here that just prefers a hydration pack lol. I ride with an Osprey raptor that holds 3L of water. The jeffsy has the worlds smallest 1 pint water bottle. I use that to splash in my hair when its super hot or on my ankles if I ride through stinging nettles.

So I have just been using some padded cycling shorts i got from Amazon. They are stretchy material. You gotta free ball in them. I wear them under Royal Racing Race shorts and a tech tee or baggy jersey.

I have a couple of those on my steel ride and they are sweet... I like that you can bend them in a little to have more grip. Not cheap though; that's the premium for cages, 'cept maybe carbon.

I think you have a self torture addiction! Haha
I prefer bibs over the padded shorts that come with the baggy mtb shorts. Bibs make life way more comfortable and you can wear them on their own when it is hot out. That is if you’re down for the spandex life.

my current favorites are some sportful bodyfit pro but the straps are on their last leg...

Here's a downlow one to add to the list, it's officially unofficial... The Cougar Slayer. I've wanted to complete this for years. One year I actually made it a goal, then quickly realized it wasn't in the card that year. I needed to be in better shape. Custom Belt Buckle included...
It's also self-run, so you can do it on your own in a window of time. Just needs to be completed and Strava file sent. And it's free.

    http://thecougarslayer.com/ride/quick-course-description/

67.5 miles, 8500 up, 10,500 down. You have 24 hours. Finish in under 8 and you get to choose your custom buckle.

That’s pretty wild, even harder not doing it as an organized ride. Sweet buckle too.

I use those lezyne cages almost exclusively. Held up to several runs down "The Whole Enchilada" which gut checks all your stuff. :notsure: The Specialized Zee cages are sweet too.
